Activists who caused mayhem trying to crash the joint session of Congress last week –- tragically leading to one shooting death and several other fatalities, including one policeman –- have been characterized in news reports as right-wing conspiracy theorists who identify with such groups as QAnon. It’s not the first time Trump supporters have been reportedly associated with QAnon, and when this came up once before, some readers wrote and asked us, “What is QAnon?”

Heck if I knew. Seriously, we had no idea. And those readers must not have known, either, or they wouldn’t have asked us. Judging from typical news accounts, though, Trump supporters are deep into this and other wild conspiracy theories, like the crazy belief that some people actually commit election fraud. Of course we know that’s nonsense, especially when applied to the 2020 election, which we’ve been assured was the most accurate and secure election in our nation’s history and that’s good enough for us. (Sarcasm alert.)

And since news accounts are known for giving such keen and insightful depictions of Trump supporters –- how we think, what motivates us, what we like to buy at Walmart and order at the Olive Garden –- we were frankly a little embarrassed at our ignorance about QAnon. What kind of self-respecting Trump supporters were we, not even knowing what it was, let alone not believing whatever it was they were putting out there? So we did a little very basic research and tackled the question briefly in a months-old newsletter.

After the Capitol Hill riot last week, the topic of QAnon came up again, in a particularly sad context: Ashli Babbitt, the woman who was killed by a Capitol Hill officer inside the building, reportedly at least looked into it herself.

Here’s how the AP put it: “Her Twitter account promoted mainstream conservative views but also included references to the QAnon conspiracy theory, which centers on the baseless belief that Trump had been secretly fighting deep state enemies and a cabal of Satan-worshiping cannibals operating a child sex trafficking ring.”

Well, they kind of had us at “deep state enemies” but lost us at “Satan-worshiping cannibals.”

Please understand, we strongly condemn the foolish and destructive actions at the Capitol. Everyone involved should be ashamed of what they did and those who disobeyed Capitol Police, vandalized the building and led to the death and destruction should be prosecuted as fully as we called for that to happen to the Antifa and BLM rioters last summer. Their actions helped Trump’s adversaries wrongly paint the President and ALL his supporters as insurrectionists and even seditionists, giving the left an excuse to crush our civil rights, which they are now doing. Still, the AP report about Babbitt reads mostly like a hit piece, especially jarring since the woman had been killed just the day before. It includes a couple of nice remarks from her ex-husband Aaron, but otherwise paints her as a nutty Trump supporter who believed all those crazy things about the election and tweeted about gun rights and illegal immigration.

According to the AP report, “Babbitt, an Air Force veteran who identified as a Libertarian and supporter of the 2nd Amendment, frequently posted unsubstantiated views about election fraud by the President and his most extreme supporters –- activists whose conspiracy theories and unflinching support for Trump have attracted large numbers of online followers.”

Babbitt was once charged with road rage, it says, but acquitted. She reportedly supported a recall drive against California Gov. Gavin Newsome, which is at least one testament to sanity and good judgment.

Again quoting from AP: “Brian Levin, Director of the Center for the Study of Hate & Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino, said Babbitt will be remembered as a martyr by people with a wide range of grievances spanning from disbelief in the seriousness of the pandemic to beliefs in QAnon conspiracy theories.

“‘When you have people in an alternate universe, they will take a catalytic event and spin it in a way that is most appealing to their emotions and fears, irrespective of what the facts may end up showing,’ he said.”

Well, isn’t that special. I get the impression that to such a condescending person, gun rights and legal immigration –- and Trump support –- are right up there with a cannibalistic sex trafficking ring as crazy things to believe in. And many on the left eagerly lump us all into that same alternate universe.

I’d also say that anything called the “Center for the Study of Hate & Extremism” might want to focus just a little attention on the hate and extremism coming from the left, along with those wild conspiracy theories about Trump and Putin and Russian prostitutes. Bet they won’t, though. Because those examples are perfectly normal.

Another report, this from the AIR FORCE TIMES, refers to Babbitt as an “adherent" of QAnon.

Incidentally, this report tells us that Babbitt “was part of a mob that, after being incited by President Trump’s fraudulent claims of a stolen election, overran barricades and stormed Congress...” Hold on --- one timeline of events suggests the mob could not have been listening to Trump’s speech and get there in time to cause the chaos at the Capitol when it took place. We're checking into this, but It appears these people might not have even heard Trump speak, so I’m curious to know how he “incited” them.

Also, the event they were interrupting was an attempt by Republicans in Congress to present their evidence, which thanks to their idiocy, was not presented and never will be.

Apparently, Babbitt had posted a photo of herself in a “QAnon” shirt. We wish we could tell you more about this group, but we –- like most Trump supporters –- are just not into that. When President Trump was asked about it by incredibly rude town hall host Savannah Guthrie last year, he said he didn’t know anything about it. “I just don’t know about QAnon,” he said.

Guthrie argued with him (!), as she did repeatedly throughout the interview. “You do know,” she said.

He insisted he did not. Then he said they were against pedophilia, but it seems he was confused and really talking about Antifa. Apparently, even President Trump didn’t know what QAnon is, or had only a vague idea.

Here’s what the NEW YORK POST said about QAnon in a comprehensive report last October.

QAnon was supposedly named for “Q,” a shadowy figure who remains anonymous. But if some of those people who stormed the Capitol and dashed conservative hopes are members of QAnon, I say the “Q” should really stand for “Quixote,” as in Don Quixote, who famously tilted at windmills.

From this we get the word “quixotic,” which means “foolishly impractical, especially in the pursuit of lofty ideals.” Also, “Having or showing ideas that are different and unusual but not practical or likely to succeed.” That foolhardiness and its tragic end are all the “Q” represents to me.

My comment has nothing to do with QAnon. Although, I am a Trump supporter, I know nothing about the group. What I do want to say is how much I enjoy your newsletter. If is informative, humorous, spiritual, and grounded. Thank You! Well done!

Governor, I believe the thugs that broke into the Capitol Bldg. were no part of the rally that heard the President speak. Where would peaceful Trump protesters get ropes to attach to the side of the building to climb? Where did the back packs full of clothing and equipment come from? I believe it was Antifa/BLM activists all the way that started the riot. AND some video of the shooting of Ashli Babbitt shows one of the agitators quickly going to the side and changing clothes and then appears as a police man motioning the crowd in. This was all planned and staged. There were also reports that Antifa was planning to place disguised activists in the crowd. No report that I've seen even mentions that.

The Left planned it, executed it well and now are taking Trump, the 74 million of his supporters, and in fact, the nation down. I fear that 2 years down the road will be too late to correct it with a vote. The Swamp will have totally usurped the nation.

Made on comment on a post that I saw about the First Lady. I stated that she and our president had been great these last four years. One person targeted me and was very ugly on Facebook. Needlessly to say I have blocked that post. Guess only haters have a right to an opinion

Some believe in Qanon others in „russian collusion”. The first one hasn’t been debunked yet.
I wonder which one has at least some elements of truth. Mysterious activities of Epstein and even more mysterious death lend plenty to be explained.

If QAnon is nothing more than right-wing conspiracy theorists, why would Pelosi try to impeach the president with only 8 days remaining? It seems to me, they are worried about what Trump will do with the remaining time he has in the office.

Frankly, considering the total, absolute horse manure that demonrats, and their fakestream media pet parrots have shoveled out on a continuing, non-stop basis for years(decades), we'd be inclined, just as a matter of principle, to take ANY alternative opinion, by ANYONE, at least into consideration.

There is some video of the capitol shooting that appears to show a young male with a fluffy winter hat who is in the area were Ashli was shot. He has a buddy in a yellow flag who appears to hand him a helmet of some type which he uses to smash the window inside the capital, after the shooting occurs in the confusion surrounding the shooting the young man runs down some stairs switches clothes and leaves the capitol telling people somebody was shot. This same young male ends up as the witness CNN interviews to get the details of the days events. The Trump supporters who entered the capitol should not have done so, but there is some fishy smelling activities around this affair. One very frustrating thing about all this for me is that I sense that there is corruption at every level of government, corruption in the past election, corruption in the capitol breech, corruption in the endless Antifa riots, corruption in the death of Jeffery Epstein, and corruption with Bill and Hillary Clinton, corruption with Joe Biden and on and on. I do have to remind myself that God does see all and what is done in darkness will be made known, God is never on a ballot, He cannot be bought nor can His justice be deterred.

Hello Mike and the Huckabee Team. Who Funded this march ? Who put all these people up, Fed them, paid for their plane tickets from all 50 states ? I smell George Soros and those that heavily fund the Democratic Party. When those involved start peeling back the Onion Skins, who's at the Core ? Were the Clintons involved ? The Obamas ? Sure would like to know. This had been planned for Months, HAD TOO ! These type of Protests just don't crop up. Peace & Goodwill to all....J. Hemingway, Atlanta, Ga.

Governor, a viral video clearly shows that certain capital police opened the fencing& the doors to let trump people walk in the Capital. Don’t you think that was so they could get a picture of Trump supporters being inside more than a 30 or 40 agitator is already in there?

Thanks Gov Huckabee for your information you post everyday. After reading the posts you received today about Anon, it's just Q, and he is a real person, if people would take the time to research they would know rather than making their lame remarks. It seems the ones posting today don't have a clue what is really going on not just in our country but around the world. This was all started along time ago and as of right now there is a military operation going on. If people want to know more watch the video "The Plan To Save The World ", it's not just about our election. By the way Q is actually was and still may be in Scottsdale,AZ today.

Thanks for that explanation, Gov Huckabee. I, a Trump supporter, (with a PhD and still shop at Walmart...), just heard about the QAnon stuff this past weekend. I am very curious about it and don't discount it right now....Just letting you know.

Governor, I'd like to set you straight on something: What happened at the Capitol was orchestrated by Nancy Pelosi and her cohorts in Antifa and BLM. A few Trump supporters got caught up in it, which was unfortunate, but at least 99.9% of the Trump supporters are, and were that day, peaceful. Everything was planned so that Trump could be blamed and their evil impeachment could go forward. PLEASE, don't add to the Left's evil intentions by blaming Trump supporters!

The reason so many get caught up into believing the Q theories is because the/we feel hopeless. The Q theories have good winning over evil. Good people doing the right things. We have just had an election stolen right before the worlds eyes and not a blessed person has done anything to stop it. So if people want to hope and believe in good winning they will turn to just about anything for hope and a happy ending.

Mike; as a pastor this is a hard question but do you think that unless the Lord God intervenes we may well face another revolution before this is over. I am 77 years old and for sure don't intend to under any circumstances surrender my guns or yield to their dictatorship craziness.
I doubt that Biden, Harris and Pelosi are aware that Satan is using them in an attempt too destroy America.
I am praying that the Lord does intervene but believe that unless we confess our national sins, murdering babies, gay marriage etc., we may well not deserve His help.
    Thank you

I do not know exactly what Qanon is, however, in my quest to find conservative truthful news I have perused many sites recently. I have come to watch a man named Simon Parks who is on Rumble, You Tube, and Bitchute. He speaks about Q and a team of individuals that are monitoring events and giving reports. He seems credible, but these days it's hard to know what to believe or to believe anything. His theories date back years. I put my trust in God. I believe he chose Donald Trump for a reason, and will expose the corruption in his time.

Dear Mr. H: Appreciate your newsletter, all the time put into shows.
Have personally not supported Apple as could not overcome their ties to China human rights atrocities to use their cool tech. Now looking for non Google , non china tech and finding it difficult. Use gmail, android and chrome. Trying DuckDuckGo, yet all my site passwords are in Chrome and don't think DDGo has password saving tool.
If you find ..know..other email, cell phone, browser the HARDWARE, IOS and APPs can switch to, please pass it on. Maybe Israel has something in works? From countries and people not anti Christian values.
Have only one item left to source from other than Amazon. Is the smart phones and computers difficult to find.

I've followed Q from the beginning. I'm well educated, and well researched. I go to great lengths to confirm what, and who I believe. The most acurate depictment of the Q movement was written by Gab in a response letter. The Gabs reply perfectly described what Q is. More importandly what Q is not! Simply put, Q is an informational platform that encourages Patriots to research for themselves rather than accepting MSM. Many of the post are in a format of "What if" followed by what is known as 'bread crumbs,' which are information pieces for you to research. Q quotes an amazing amount of Biblical Scripture encouraging Patriots to "stay strong, and trust the plan." It is focused around faith in God, thus the Scriptural verses. I STRONGLY suggest anyone truly interested in understanding what the Q movement is to read it from the head of Gab. All that we hear, if we don't ascribe to MSM mocking-bird media is that it's conspiracy. Q encourages to do your homework!
