“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

If I had been able, I would have been in Washington, D.C. I'm 78 years old and am outraged at our government. The USA has died!! We will no longer be a free country!!!! As a Christian, I'm afraid religious freedom is gone except for Islam. I've pleaded with my Savior to save our nation!! I have to trust God, but it sure is difficult now!!! Christians have been betrayed by hateful, evil people.

President Trump has been very consistent with condemning the violence that has been happening in our country for the past year. I am very glad that some of our "news" agencies have now learned that violence is BAD and the police are GOOD. I am disappointed with today, but aghast: NO. I am aghast that our DOJ had more interest in a false Russian Collusion hoax with no evidence and no witnesses for TWO YEARS, but we have an election with witnesses and video and we got nothing. I am aghast that our Republicans folded like an accordion at a polka festival. I am aghast that the only power I have as an American citizen is to vote and that power has been compromised. I am really AGHAST that Republicans have played their part in this election corruption. I am 61 years old and have voted all of my life and I have no interest in voting in the future because it won't matter. I am AGHAST at this.

Would love to see a copy of the letter Pence sent out prior to convening. Apparently it was an insight as to how he envisioned his role in today’s activity in Congress. Isn’t the Constitution specific so as to limit self-interpretation in this matter by a sitting VP? One should be ready for these moments in that the Constitution should give one all the courage one needs!

I am so sad that our country has come to this. There is no excuse for violence under any circumstances and my heart goes out to the family of the young woman who has lost her life.
I feel like this could have been averted if both sides had just agreed to look into the discrepancies of the 4 States to ensure everything was indeed legal and legit instead of ignoring and debunking every story as fake news. What would have been the harm in that. If they continue to ignore this and try and sweep it under the rug millions of Americans will not not have closure and will never trust our election process ever again.

We need election reform and a national election process that every State must follow for consistency. Votes must be counted within 24 - 48hrs

Just my two cents. ?? God Bless you and our beautiful country!

I agree with you Mr. Huckabee. I think those who broke into the Capitol today should be prosecuted. The majority of Trump supporters are a singing and flag waiving crowd. I would not doubt that some Antifa etc elements instigated to give the Trump supporters a bad name.
I have watched the hearings of a few contested states and it seems there was plenty of evidence of fraud. It’s frustrating to see the press saying there is no evidence and the courts not wanting to ever hear the cases... frankly this election looks like one not from our country but from a banana republic!

My understanding is Antifa brought the violence to the capitol according to America Stands news and NOT the pro Trump supporters!

I disagree with the violence. However, As I have seen posts by Antifa members, I am certain it was those animals who infiltrated the Trump supporters, stormed the Capitol and caused the violence. I heard Mr. Trump's address at the beginning and he did NOT incite anybody to violence like the Leftist press is saying. I am upset, but not surprised that the lying press did indeed says that Trump's claims of vote fraud were false.
There are hundreds of people who witnessed the voter fraud. The talking news head also said this voter fraud was refuted by every court in the land.
It was not as the Supreme Court refused to hear it. While the Constitution doesn't seem to give a way to reject the Electoral College votes, there is a federal law that does. Mike Pence should have at the very least agreed to holding off on the certification of the votes until after a commission appointed by Congress could review the votes, and or send them back to the various state legislatures for confirmation or rejecting. I've had a gut feeling that something is off with Pence, and now I am certain. I no longer respect him and think he lied about his reason given the recourse he had with the federal law. At least these protesters were for the most part non-violent and respectful unlike the Antifa animal and BLM bullies who riot, loot, and burn when they protest. I will say God bless President Trump and God bless America, although I feel that God is done with our country.

    Dear Governor,

I am in my 60s and have always been very patriotic. I grew up believing all of us are incredibly lucky to be born in this beautiful country. I was taught to trust our government and our amazing Constitution . Nothing would destroy us because we have checks and balances. I have always trusted our ingenious Constitution to keep us safe from tyrannical government forces. I have believed our top military leaders would protect us from all enemies, foreign and domestic. In spite of the fact there have been some bad actors In government from the beginning. They have never “won” because I the good guys prevail. I was worried during the Clinton administration, but had faith in President Clinton’s love of country, as long as he could keep his horrible wife in check. I was upset, angry and appalled with people in the Obama administration. They started the push for “fundamentally changing” the country. They fomented hate and mistrust between different groups of people. I was delighted when Hillary lost in 2016. I really did not know what to expect from Donald Trump but felt he had to be better than Hillary. He has been a great president and has accomplished many wonderful things, in spite of the never ending pounding he has been getting since he announced he was running. Granted, he has posted some cringeworthy tweets. But that is not a reason to hate him. That man has been bombarded with hate, lies and investigations. And he stood tall and kept working for our country. Not since President Reagan have we had a President who openly expressed his love of this country and, more importantly, his faith and love of God.

I won’t rehash all the horrific things done by people in the FBI, CIA and DOJ. What they have done to this country is unconscionable.

I am stunned by the blatant election fraud. There is so much demonstrable wrong doing it is unbelievable. It makes me sick. I cannot believe Georgia had the run off election using dominion voting machines.

I could go on and on, but I won’t. You know exactly what has been happening. I read all your newsletters and most of the articles for which you provide links.

I am horrified. If they get by with this, we are sunk. I don’t know how we will overcome these far left lunatics taking control.

For the first time in my life, I am ashamed of our “leaders” and the first time I have ever been AFRAID of our government. This is terrifying.

    God bless,
    Cindy Taylor

for 12 years the democrats have disrespected and demonized police yet now they are calling for us to respect them? for four years the democrats have gotten away with crimes treason being one of them. The time to bite our tongues is over. it's time we started fighting for our country. If the democrats cheating our elections is not addressed and corrected now they will completely remove the constitution. its not time to sit quietly and just be mindless docile sheep. It's time to take a stand. for too long we have been quiet and look where it has gotten us!

I saw a film on a phone of a Trump supporter being interviewed right after the break in incident. It shows 5 buses (one black and 4 white) being allowed to come and park near the Capital Building. The buses emptied and they were men wearing knee and lower leg padded coverings and also arm padded coverings who under direction entered the barricaded area and overpowered the police who were present. These were not Trump supporters those being interviewed said. They were Antifa. The witnesses had been present for 4 to 5 hours and there was no violence at all by supporters all that time. Don't know where you are getting your info Mike but it appears to be incorrect.

Mr. Huckabee, I have listened and watched a lot of video footage today and tonight and the people that broke thru the line had come from a mile away, If you look at the actual pictures of these people they resemble they antifasciste group from a month ago in the same rally that was in DC. In my opinion this is being unfairly reported as it came from the left. Thank you for listening

I am a Trump supporter! We don't breach government buildings and we don't go toe to toe with the men in blue! This was clearly organized leftist tactics. Mark my word, it is clear that this was an antifa 'false flag' operation designed to smear decent Americans who support the President. We are on the cusp of a leftist totalitarian coup and today's events will be used to justify the persecution of anyone who disagrees with our new masters. Our only hope is now is what it always should have been...trust in the Lord!

I totally agree that violence was not the answer today and Trump needed to condemn it more, even say that he would send Federal agencies in if needed. I think the protesters played right into the Democrat’s hands. After all, they are masters of manipulation. They’ve been pulling the strings of BLM and Antifa to get Biden elected and using the MSM to blame Trump all along.

BTW, did anyone else notice that the helmets and clear screen shields used by the “protesters” who broke through the glass looked a lot like what we saw in previous videos of riots in Portland. I heard there were plenty of people there from Portland.

One other thing, Chuck Schumer called this an insurrection, I’d call it a wake up call.

I have friends who were there today in DC. One of them texted a while ago, saying they (being Trump supporters) were praying and were peaceful. The ones commenting the violent acts didn't act like Trump supporters & they figured these were some type of Antifa or BLM groupers because that's who they acted like.

    Hello Mike and readers,

I am of the opinion that a full investigation into the results of the two most recent elections (National and Georgia) is needed. But I am disappointed with the two communications from POTUS. He has never been Presidential and today was no exception.

Nice article governor. I agree with you. But It is just so hard to have confidence in a system that doesn’t seem to care about 85 million people. Things appear to be so corrupt. I know God is in control. God bless you sir. Would love to see you at a Waffle House. Praying for the USA ????.

What I am aghast at is that we are letting this fraud continue, with all but a few Patriots in the Senate and House accepting this without scrutiny, and ignoring the will and votes of 74-75 million Americans! The election of November 3 was illegal, illegitimate, and violates the state and federal Constitution! And everyone in DC and in state houses around the nation know it! I stand with President Trump! And what happened today on my opinion was Antifa posing as Patriots to stop the legitimate actions to correct this! I am appalled

    Good evening Governor,
I watched part of the rally/protest on Breitbart, there was a witness to the vandalism who said confidently that it was Antifa that was being unruly and it was Patriots that stoped them.
    I’m sure I’m
Not the only one sending something along these lines.
Could you check on that statement and let us all know if it’s true?
