“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

It was Antifa dressed in Maga gear but tattoos give them away.

    Dear Gov. Huck:
The incidents are only hours old yet I've already heard that some in Congress and the police had intelligence that BLM and Antifa elements planned to wear MAGA gear and do what they do best, smash windows and destroy things to make Trump supporters look bad. Tucker Carlson said Biden's leftists will use it as an excuse to seriously curtail rights under the Bill of Rights. Concocting a situation to do that fits their M.O. I hope the full, true story comes out soon but I'm not holding my breath.
The great numbers of people who showed up from all over the country demonstrate how angry half the country is at having a landslide election stolen from the (legitimate) president by cheating, so that a foreign ideology (socialism) can be imposed on us. And then they just ran the same play in the GA elections that they ran in Nov. The thought of what is to come in this country is depressing in the extreme.

My problem with this entire thing is that the issues today were not Trump supporter issues. The people instigating today were Antifa ( complete with communist tattoos and documented photos from previous BLM/Antifa actions. The actions (or lack of actions) from the worthless lifers in Washington DC and liberal courts around the country have driven a massive segment of the population to have absolute hatred and distrust for anything that isn’t Trump. At this point I wouldn’t believe a Democrat if they told me it was raining and I was drowning in my front yard. There are too many people that have been lying and cheating to turn our country Socialist/Communist with a hatred for anything Trump. None of them like Biden, they only hate Trump. Possibly even the dead ones that voted. If the election was not rigged then allow the signatures, witnesses, and audits!!!

Don't be sure those were all Trump supporters, Mike. But if they were, Trump needed to tell them he understood their feelings or it would have been worse. Don't you get that?? He needed to tell them this whole thing stunk to high heaven but we can't play into their hands. Had he "condemned" them (or if these idiots use the 25th amendment), it will get much much worse. It obviously worked because they went home and are not burning down cities. THese people want this investigated. And not to show his understanding of that would have been a mistake and worse. I'm a retired Adjunct professor from Michigan and I am so concerned about the direction universities and this censorship is taking. You can't censor this people like that, refuse to investigate this and expect to NOT get this eventually. What a travesty. Lynn Fay, Adjunct Professor.

I am saddened and frustrated. I expect this sort of protest from the Democrats, not Republicans. We should be better than this.

I am unhappy with the results of the election (and I strongly suspect it was indeed stolen by the Democrats), but I am even more unhappy with this action by Trump supporters. This is not the way to make our voices heard.

Romans 13:1 has been going through my mind since before November 3. God appointed Trump as President of the United States back in 2016, and it looks like God has appointed Biden to be our next President. I might not like it, I might not agree with it, but all I can do is trust in God.

We survived eight years of Obama. We can survive 4 years of Biden/Harris. But we have to be better than the Democrats and trust in God to do so.

Right now, I don't know what to think or say -- it was so clear to me that there was fraud; it was looking like MANY people had acted as though "their desired end" justified whatever means it took, including outright cheating! It sure looked like noone was going to be able to do anything about it either; but I still had hope -- for today -- that in the face of the courageous objections by some Senators and Representatives, some people's consciences would finally cause them to realize that there IS LOTS of evidence that should at least be considered by an independent investigative group. But now, it looks like --- once again -- we've cooked our own goose. And if we didn't do it ourselves, then someone is pretty adept at making it look like that's what happened; and I'm sorry, but at some point, President Trump needs to ACT like it's not all about him -- he's "said" it's not, but then he goes and sticks his foot in his mouth again. I feel SO badly for all those many people who simply went to DC to show support and pray for him and for our country.

I watched live those who were pouring into our Capital this morning. It was parents there with their young children who came out in support of President Trump there also was those up to no good. I am now sick over the gutless Senator's who tucked their tails in between their legs and back track on doing what they said they were going to do, stand up for this nation something the courts refused to do. Well Biden's followers achieve their agenda they turned the elected officials in this nation to not do their job by storming into the Capital Building and convincing the elected people to not do the work for the people. I have completely lost all respect for those who's job it is to serve the people because this extremely sad day the world saw first hand that we really aren't the greatest nation we are just like their country wear your voice means absolutely nothing. I'm disgusted thank God that He has and always have myself and my families back because He's our ONLY hope for only God knows his own plans and I will just keep seeking the ability to grasp how allowing those elected to damage our country probably beyond repair.

What happened today at our nations Capitol was abhorrent regardless of your political leaning. We are a nation of laws, we looked like a 3rd world country today.

I am saddened by the fraud in our elections. However, I do not feel Vice President Pence should be made the villian. Trump is WRONG to slander Pence.

God help the fraud to be exposed and may ALL those involved be exposed and brought to justice.

I watched the events on Fox. The news people over played the whole thing. It was not a riot. There were probably thousands of people there that were peacefully protesting. I seriously doubt the trouble makers were Trump supporters.
People are fed up with the lying and corruption in Washington and Liberals. Crooked elections!
The news called it a riot among other things. It was just a peaceful protest when BLM burned and rand sacked businesses. It was ok when Obama approved of the riots and praised thugs and lambasted police, It is ok for Maxine Waters to call for the death of Trump and his supporters.
People are fed up and if things do not change it is going to get worse.
    Thanks for listening

President Trump could have won this election if he had learned that “Less is more!” No one in their right mind can dispute his policies both domestic and foreign, they have been unprecedented! But unfortunately his rhetoric, tweets, just irritated people to the point that they rather not vote or vote for anyone but him. With a little more diplomacy he could have had 4 more years and no amount of fraud would have stopped him. I truly hope he reflects and mends fences in the Republican Party when he leaves office.

As a dedicated Trump supporter, I was so disappointed in what I witnessed today, I felt bewildered and betrayed. How could a presidency that delivered so much to America, end like this. Further, I am so dismayed about how there will be no evidentiary hearing into the 2020 presidential election irregularities to prove, one way or the other, what actually took place. Lastly, where is the justice - 15 criminal referrals and no indictments, no Durham findings, no results with the Hunter Biden investigation, and the list goes on.

I disagree with your word tepid. I see the President as calm, needing to make a statement, but cautious without having any real details.
I also seriously question that the rioters at the Capital were actual Trump supporters and not professional agitators.

Stop and think and use your head people. This was a set up. Antifia & BLM were dressed to look like Trumpers to start all this trouble. That way Trump & his people would look bad. Now the Democrats & fake news are having a field day blaming Trumpers.

Me. President must be bold and condemn those who breached the Capital, caused injuries, damaged the Capital. The President must accept the results of the election. He has done everything to expose with no results from the courts, etc. mr. President condemn it strongly. Don’t say anything else about the fraud. You have been heard, the people know it, put it in God’s hands.

I agree that President Trump needs to be more forceful in his condemnation of these activities... with that said, the American people MUST BE TOLD THE TRUTH!! If what President Trump has repeatedly stated is TRUE, then yes, our country is on the verge of a civil war, and we must defend our constitution, even against all odds! But I believe our President has made fools of all Americans that have supported him until now, and he must step down... NOW! VP Pence will have our support. He will pick up the torch and help get the answers we need so badly, knowing that his failure to do so will destroy our Nation! President Trump can no longer help us... Pence must finish what Trump has so wittingly started... to "Make America Great Again!!

Are we absolutely certain that the violence was carried out by actual Trump supporters and not some "thugs" hired by the Democratic Party ? After all they are "Pros" at such behavior. What better way to cause harm to Republicans than to start such a fiasco.
Am very disheartened. But God is control of even this. Just praying he strengthens his people.

It’s all smoke and mirrors. Always trying to get get the focus off what’s really going on. The left has slowly and deliberately infiltration all that we as Christians hold dear. And we have passively allowed it to erode our lives and sadly our youth and children. Where do we go from here? Just beg our Heavenly Father for forgiveness and stay strong. Telling the truth in love and calling evil evil. But don’t get caught up in the “look over here” trickery! Pray for wisdom and discernment... now more than ever.

After every sordid lie and trick the left has done I think he understands better than anyone how frustrated we are. He is not going to come down hard on his supporters after what they have already been put through.
