“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

Just wondering if all of these people are Trump supporters of if specialising trouble makers are working to continue to make President Trump look bad. I am praying that there is no continued violence and no one else is injured. Many prayers for the future of our country for the sake of my three grandchildren and all others.

This is a sad time in the nations history, I am a conservative who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020, but he lost the election in 2020 from the first debate yet would not listen to common sense and being the narcissist he is would not accept his failing, but continued to blame everyone else. If he had focused on the positive changes made over the past 4 years instead he would have been re-elected. His negative actions also cost the nation the loss of the two Senate seats in GA. There is no doubt in my mind that illegal voting took place, but Trump himself lost the election.

We are the peaceful party who want the truth of this election to prevail. But I must ask is it too much to believe that the party of peace had the opposition joining them in this peaceful protest dressed in sheep's clothing, and then shedding their sheep's clothing to make it look like it was Trump supporters? My gut feeling is that the American patriot does hold peace in high esteem. But those on the left have proven many times over that there is NOTHING they won't do to vilify President Trump. However, perhaps at this point, we need to let God prevail! Let's not let the fake news unfairly pin this on President Trump!!

Christians condemn violence but those with a great memory can trace COVID from China through WHO which job is to provide a virus filter or at least alarm the world. COVID comes to an America whose manufacturing was exported to China and if honestly evaluated President Trump should at least get A for getting ventiltor and masks and Grahams group and the ship available. DEmocrats and Republicans used to be controlled by their Religious beliefs and had common ground. Then Saul Alinsky was one importer of communism LAWS as a neusence to their goals. Peace was no longer a goal. Just last eek on TV there was a story of person who could no longer tack LACK OF LIBERTY so tunneled from east Berlin to West Berlin....VOTE COUNTING MATTERS

I was appalled to put in mildly to see the takeover of our Capital. This is NOT who we are! The President needed to denounce this violence in the strongest terms and he failed to do so.
I think Vice President Pence pondered and prayed what his action must be. I believe he did what he thought the Constitution called for him to do. I write this with a heavy heart because I know the ramifications. I also know that the Lord is going to use this for His glory! I know that He has called our nation to repent and turn to Him who sits on the Throne. We have not. May the Lord strengthen each of us and turn our hearts to Him for what is sure to come.

I agree with you Mr Huckabee, however the Democrats brought this on themselves. They allowed the burning, looting and violence throughout the U.S. last summer to continue. I believe they were happy about it because they could blame Trump! It looks like Antifa was involved today as well. It's a double standard if you condone bad things when it's your party doing it and condem them if it's the other party! Unfortunately I feel like we are seeing the beginning of the end of America as we know it unless there is a revolution. I don't want that but I'm afraid it is where we are heading. Both parties need to wake up and remember that they work for us and not the other way around!

Dear Former Governor Huckabee,
Unfortunately, what you ask, after 8 years of Obama trashing America overseas, disgracing Christians at the annual prayer breakfast, scandal after scandal with no Republican with the backbone to do anything meaningful, the BLM looting and rioting and intimidating regular americans while the government and Media say it is their right to protest even while destroying innocent people; and I am just talking briefly barely scratching the surface, like the Benghazi fiasco, the IRS weaponized, the spying on journalists, and private citizens, and sending billions of dollars IN cash to terrorist run country. Then, we have Hillary with calling us deplorables, her pay for paid schemes, her getting away with felonies left and right, and giving uranium rights to our rivals, as well as, living with her and her worshippers refusing to allow to let Trump run the country. The millions of dollars and countless unfounded Media and never-Trumpers Republican Party and Democratic sore losers conspiracies that brought Americans consistently under stress and tearing families apart as some family members swallowed the rubbish fed to them for 4 years that turned out to be a total LIE. The nonsensical impeachment fiasco in January which caught Congress off guard BUT not Trump when we were hit with bioweapon called China virus aka Covid19 WHICH democratic governors like my governor in Minnesota have taken advantage of to destroy our small businesses and deny churches their Constitutional right to congregate but thought nothing of letting BLM and Antifas burn down small businesses, kill our police department and other people on the street. Dems refusing people to bury their dead, UNLESS you get killed under police custody or a famous Democrat you love, then all of a sudden crowd swell is perfectly safe. Looting and rioting and destroying other people's property is quite alright BUT defending your family and house is prosecuted, OR protesting against the tyrannical overreacting governors is considered illegal. AND NOW, election blatantly stolen and Courts will not even give the right to be heard, even when that is the only source of recourse, the only civil recourse left was Congress and Senate and Pence, and what happens? Pelosi changes the rules under the pretense of Covid19 which wasn't an issue when she needed to be reelected as speaker, but today made it only 11 Dems and 11 GOP present, and Pence went along with that.
So, after my short explanation, is there any wonder why the people may have been pushed beyond being patient?
Just asked, what are they going to do when their rights and dignity has been trampled on for over a decade? Many of them have had enough AND they do not have the patience like Job in the Bible. Just saying.

Hello Mike, I would never advocate for violence. Mike Pence most likely new he was going to play the hand he did days if not weeks ago, should have been straight about that. The good people of this nation need to stand and be heard. The presidential election was a huge fraud, the proof is there. There are too many if not most politicians in this country that got greedy and now have dirty hands and a majority of America is sick of it. They need to be reminded of who they work for. Maybe the great American patriots, all 70 plus million of us need to stop paying taxes for a while and get our point across that way. I'm pissed Mike, how do you feel?

I agree with you completely. I also feel the pain and resentment of the many millions of Americans who have watched in horror at all that has been done to our country and President for the past 4 years. I do not condone the behavior of today and am ashamed of all of it. Also, I don’t believe that the majority of people who went tot the protest today we’re planning on what happened. It’s a shame and now with the corrupt party taking over I’m afraid we are all in for the beginning of socialism. I am very afraid of what is to come and very angry that the bad guys won.

I know violence is wrong. Unfortunately Governor Huckabee we are on the verge of a American Revolution again. Many people are going to die on both sides. Trump needs to get out now. There aren't enough military and police to stop this. The democrats are to blame for this sad attempt at socialism. This country will fight back!

Mr. Huckabee you and I both know that the violence caused today was started by Antifa people pretending to be Trump Supporters. They did it to mess with the congress reps who were planning on objecting. And it worked bc some of them have said they would not object after what happened. Please wait a bit before commenting when something like this happens.

Common sense and seekers of truth know the election was stolen, but it seems no one will listen, and if truth is ignored, is it possible Trump would call for a 3rd party, ie America First or The Constitutional Party so we can weed out the weak..in name only Republicans and move forward in courage?

What should be said of all the protesters only a handful got out of line. There are always those looking for trouble and they find it! The media is hysterical! Think what could have really happened if the majority were violent they would have burned the city down hung anyone in there way. Thousands would have died and the police and military would have been over run. The medi needs to shut up before the population gets really pissed!

I was appalled that these protesters were able to break into the capital and even enter the house chamber and other offices. Where were the capital police? I am heartbroken that our country is so divided. I know God is sovereign and we need to pray and trust in Him but it’s hard!
