“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order --- respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”

President Trump tweeted this in response to the violence that erupted Wednesday at the Capitol Building, when some “Trump supporters” broke through barricades and stormed the building, breaking windows, getting rough with police in the halls, even entering the House chamber. As this is being written, news has just broken that one of the people who got shot in the melee has died.

Trump is right: we ARE the party of law and order, but I think most of us will agree that he needs to be a lot tougher in his condemnation of this. The same can be said of the video statement he released. Of course, virtually every news outlet who posted his tepid “go home” video had to editorialize, saying that Trump “repeated false claims” of election fraud. Facebook took it down.

So did YouTube.

Trump also tweeted this on Wednesday: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”

Well, yes, Mr. President, but in the USA, at least those of us on the right, also demand that the Constitution be meticulously followed. Vice President Pence obviously was doing what he thought was right concerning his role in this. We may disagree with him –- numerous constitutional experts do, and Alan Dershowitz isn’t sure –- and you obviously disagree with him, but please, right now, stay out of that process and stop pressuring him.

Trump told his supporters to go home, but no reaction to this violence is complete without a total, vociferous condemnation. We all condemned the truly awful violence coming from the Democrat side this summer when their party and the media (but I repeat myself) failed to do it. In this case, it’s just as wrong, no matter who is behind it.

We are aghast at this.

Unbelievable, where is the "wisdom" we need in such a desperate hour?!

I cannot understand how we can give out so much of our $'s to all these other Countries when it should all be coming to each American citizen. How do we allow something like this to happen? Someone needs to be held responsible and accountable!

The people are tired of the lack of accountability. We've been subjected to our freedoms removed, our votes cancelled, our cities destroyed, and our information being suppressed. We are equally tired of nothing being done to save our country. We deserve much better than to be ordered around by the politicians, the media, the elite, the corporations on how we should live our lives and how we should think. We are spiritually, morally, and emotionally broke. We've been cheated way too long. We doesn't anyone want an audit of the votes from the swing states? Is that too much to ask? Politicians, the media, corporations have failed all of us. We no longer have a Republic. No leader rose up against during the violent riots, burning, looting, and killings...yet the "Trump Supporters" get ravaged for breaking into the Capital. Shame on them, shame on everyone for putting up with all the crap for so long. We deserve a break and it will not come from Biden or his minions. It will come from Patriots who love and want to preserve our country.

I am so done with Trump! He lost this entire election himself and has destroyed any chance of him running again. I was a supporter in spite of his remarks but since the election he had went mad! God help us through this next four years with the new administration.

Mike you may want to wait.
A lot of believe all of those people were peaceful marches.
There may have been some who were there to cause trouble.
In others words they were put there to do what they did.

My opinion!!! The people who did this horrible thing tonight were not Trump Supporters they were simply dressed as if they were. The true Supporters were mostly Christians who had come there to protest peacefully and pray and God's People do NOT act like that.
A friend of mine got a text (she let me read the text) from a friend whose daughter and her husband, a minister, was there and she told her Mother that it was not the protestors who entered the building. Some people came storming through the crowd and did this. I would bet a dollar to a donut, (and I don't bet), that it is the same people who tore up Cities and States all across the nation and I have no doubt they were paid. Probably by the same people who set up the fraudulent election. Just a guess on that!!!!!

WE do not trust our government or our elections. Biden should ask that the truth be found. That would settle a lot of distrust. HE IS NOT MAN ENOUGH TO WAIT AND SEEK THE TRUTH. So we are left in distrust. According to the Bible all governments will fail except the Eternal Kingdom of God. Governments will come and go. Men cannot hold them together. Only God can bless us with men that follow Him. This is what we need now. Men that follow Jesus.

So let's arrest the people who broke into the Capital building and find out who they really are! We can all agree on that. But note, we are looking at close ups and can see a communist tattoo on one and a pedophile tattoo on another -- those aren't Patriots. Eye witness accounts of a group of about 50 young guys with knee and elbow pads who made a coordinated assault on 'the gate' and were instantly on CNN with all the blame going to "right wing extremists." Right wing extremists don't wear communist tattoos. Oh, and to all of the Democrats who were appalled at the notion of conservatives storming a building, which they may not have even done... where were you when all the rioting was going on around the country? When businesses were being destroyed and shop owners killed while trying to defend their businesses? You can lose the righteous indignation because you were silent while all that was going on. Conservatives (not all Republicans mind you) ARE the people of law and order, Democrats (though not all liberals) continue to prove they are NOT. The reality is, the evidence for this case has yet to be heard, Trump's attorney's have been stonewalled repeatedly. We demand a forensic audit and a proper investigation now!

Do you think there may have been some lefties mixed in the bunch who were leading in a more riotous attitude to set the tone? Just wondering. We would have no way of finding out, would we?? Where were they stationed, or seen? the lefties, that were also reported to be going to Washington? Did they do a makeover in neutral colors, or token mask, and conveniently vanish from, or into the scene???

I am aghast, for sure. But I'm also aghast at the lack of security. We are #1 when it comes to anti-terrorism. We are #1 when it comes to our military. We are #1 when it comes to almost anything, but with violence expected in our capital -- what happened? It's just too convenient and smacks of making the president and his supporters look absolutely terrible. Worse, it makes AMERICA look very, very weak that our security cannot protect our capitol. I'm so terribly disappointed at this posturing, political mess. There are way too many unanswered questions surrounding this entire fiasco for thinking people to be satisfied.

I support the Republicans on the voter fraud. But I do not condone violence on either side. What I saw was 1000s of good Trump supporters being peaceful. And a handful of bad apples. But until they investigate we don’t know who those thuds were. No they should never ever storm the capital. This is sad. This is not what America needs. But we do need to investigate the election for both parties. For our future elections. We can not ignore half the population in this matter. We must take the time to investigate. God bless America. PS I live you and your daughter.

There's been a lot of inflammatory words on conservative social media about the state of the nation and the election results in regards to the reports of widespread fraud so its not surprising that some people are fed up and ready for more active resistance to the powers that be.

    Dear Governor:
Thank you for your commentary. I agree with you. As I listened to our President, and like it or not, the President-elect, I am left at a loss. A strong condemnation of the actions of a few is necessary. All that we called for this past summer must be a part of this. I was angry with the hypocrisy of the President-elect. He said the right words )this time) but they fell in pale to his previous non verbal attack on the looters/rioters of this past year. Where was he then? As a result, I am saddened with where we are as a nation. I know I join you and countless others in praying for the woman who has lost her life and her family; and for our nation to experience healing in Christ. Thank you for your diligence. I remain in this spirit as well. Grace and Peace!

I totally agree with your comments. I am truly saddened, disgusted, and appalled at the violence witnessed today! This was not what we, the true patriots and Trump supporters, agree with. I pray for our nation today and all of our leaders!

I can't believe the RINO'S and Mike Pence who turned their backs on us, the American People and Patriots!! Sickening and I wonder just exactly what they got for their "not standing by the Constitution?" Vote them or throw them all out !!!

  • Judith Walker

    01/06/2021 08:57 PM

Governor, I am not really "aghast." The Republican Party is no longer the party of the elite ruling class - it's the party of the working class that bears the brunt of all the bad decisions coming out of state houses and Washington, but meanwhile does the essential hard work that keeps America fed, safe, and growing. After four years of a president who actually understands and cares about them, and has reversed many of the old oppressive policies and attitudes, they now see his re-election being stolen and all the country's institutions refusing to do anything about it. Our democracy is being destroyed. There is only so much the people can take. They didn't storm in with guns and batons - their aim was simply to be heard by those who have treated them with scorn, fury, dismissal, and ridicule. And they still have not been heard. Sometimes revolts are just. I shudder to think of it, but a stolen presidential election that turns our country toward socialism may be one of those times. Please recognize the issues that lie behind today's "violence" (which was exacerbated by the police... compare all the BLM riots where the police were told to do nothing!). Any condemnation needs to be tempered by understanding and justice.

Trump should have realized it was time to tell supporters this was not the way. Even though I feel the election is rigged. Without SOLID proof nithing more can be done. The Law is the law. He needs to use his energy now moving forward using a different arena to make America great. He has the following be smart. Accept it. Please. I pray to God that he provides wisdom and courage to our new government leaders. And Trump to use his wealth, influence and experience more wisely to promote his agenda.

Violent protest is almost never justified, but the violence in Washington today was just a tiny fraction of the violence we saw from the left all summer. Pushing into the Capitol is not the same as burning homes, businesses and automobiles. Directing rocks, fireworks and lasers at police is not the same as removing barriers and pushing and shoving police officers blocking access to the Capitol. All but a tiny fraction of the Trump supporters were not violent in any way.

Mike, I appreciate your comments and agree completely that all who can be identified should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I have a hard time believing that true conservatives would violate our capitol this way. There has never been an incident like this at a conservative rally who usually leave the property cleaner than they found it. I sincerely believe it is very possible if not likely that Antifa anarchists blended in with the crowd and instigated much of this posing as Trump supporters. I see black helmeted people in the crowd on videos who came ready for violence and that is not the typical conservative protester. I would like to see those identified arrested and find out who they are.

I have sent an email to two of my favorite Senators today thanking them for all their efforts for Conservative issues. It has been an intense day for all. Our President, Vice President has done a fine job for the American voter and continues to care about them-unusual as many of our leaders only desire power/control over the populous, ignoring specific needs , trying to silence our voice. But by God's grace He will be in control, our trust is in Him. Cheryl Sunderland WA
