After I said that if we formed a third party we’d never, ever win another presidential election, EVER, I received quite a few letters from readers who think differently. Here’s a typical one...

From Stephen R:

You say that you’re against a third party and that we’d never again win an election if that happens. I totally disagree! If we abandon the Republican Party in major numbers with the right candidate, I think we’d stand a better chance rather than having the same old s*** on the menu!

What chance will the Republicans have when most of us are totally fed up with the crap that we’ve listened to for years and nothing changing (excluding President Trump)! The rest of them are just filling a seat and going along with the Democrat BS! They talk a good line when in front of the cameras, but go along with the Dems behind closed doors and to hell with their constituents! What good will the Republican Party be when 2/3 of us will not vote for another Republican candidate? I’ll vote Democrat just to remove these spineless cowards that are in office trying to say that they have our backs!!! I’m done!!!!

From the Gov:

Thanks for writing, Stephen. Obviously, our party has reached a crossroads, and it’s critically important how we decide to go forward from this point. But if I may offer some “famous last words,” I can think of none more appropriate than what you just said: “I’ll vote Democrat just to remove these spineless cowards...”

Vote Democrat? With all due respect, Stephen, I have six words for you:

Are you out of your mind?

The reason we have such a disaster in the U.S. Senate now is that Georgia Republicans, fed up by the Nov. 3 outcome, refused to vote Republican, staying home on the day of the senatorial run-off elections and giving their state two of the most radical left-wing senators ever to be on the ballot, and that’s saying something. We know now that if they had come out for the Republican candidates in numbers comparable to their November 3 turnout, they would have kept the Senate out of the hands of radical leftists. Gosh, I hope all those fed-up conservative Georgia voters are happy now.

Let’s do some basic math. Right now, the two major parties, in terms of numbers, are pretty evenly split. If the 2/3 of Republicans who, as you say, are thoroughly fed up and refuse to vote for another Republican DO vote for a third party candidate instead, that will give the third party candidate a whopping 2/3 of what the anti-Democrat vote would have been otherwise. The Republican gets the other 1/3. These two parties will split about half the total vote.

But the Democrats get almost all of the other half, which means they WIN, as all they need is a plurality. Obviously, 1/3 of the Republican vote isn’t going to get us squat. But even 2/3 of that vote isn’t going to get us squat, either. One thing about Democrats: they do stick together. And if they stick together and we fragment, with no more than 2/3 of our vote going to any one candidate, guess which party wins?

That’s right, the Democrats, every time. Go to the head of the class.

When Democrat Party candidate Bill Clinton won in 1992, he got a whopping 43 percent of the popular vote. The other two major candidates, Republican incumbent George H. W. Bush and Independent Party candidate and Texas billionaire H. Ross Perot, essentially split the rest; that “giant sucking sound” you heard was Perot sucking up 19 percent of the vote (the most a third party candidate has ever received, but it translated into ZERO electoral votes). So victory went to Clinton, the Democrat. Some analysts said that Clinton would’ve beaten Bush anyway, but we don’t know about that. A huge number of conservative Republicans rejected a second Bush term and voted for Perot, giving us the Democrats.

Let’s go farther back in history, to when former President Teddy Roosevelt tried a comeback with a third party, the Bull Moose Party. In 1912, a group of Republicans dissatisfied with President William Howard Taft formed the Bull Moose Party specifically for TR to run again. (He supposedly had said he was “fit as a bull moose” to run again.) The Bull Moose Party was “progressive” for the time and favored such new-fangled ideas as women’s suffrage, direct election of U.S. senators, and various social reforms. Roosevelt ran on what he called the “Square Deal,” based on fair business competition and more welfare programs for the needy.

Anyway, his candidacy divided the Republican Party, and Democrat Woodrow Wilson easily won. Would you like to hear about Woodrow Wilson and his administration? That’s a topic for another day, but for now let’s just say it would have been much better if TR hadn’t divided the Republican Party and let Wilson and his pals glide into the Oval Office.

Things the left would love to see from us:

1) An uprising. In fact, the Capitol breach played into their hands so well that if it hadn’t happened, they would have had to create it; make of that statement what you will. The Capitol incident gave the left all the excuse they needed to label every one of us a “domestic terrorist” and start taking our rights away. As frustrated as you might be, DO NOT give them any more reason to do that. Believe me, they are just waiting for this.

2) A third party. The left would LOVE this. Aside from the reasons mentioned above, a third party is not going to have the “ground game” of the well-oiled machine that is the Democrat Party. All this will do is split the Republican Party vote and ensure Democrat victories time after time. I know many of you don’t want to hear this, but it’s the hard truth.

3) Giving up. Some conservatives are now saying the fight is over and we have lost. Why bother voting if the elections are rigged? Why bother tweeting if you’ll just be banned? Just stay home and wait for the end. But this would be a gift to the left. When you give up, they push even harder.

We have to fix our party, from the inside. We do have a few outstanding incumbents, but for the RINOS, we have to find solid, articulate conservative candidates for primary challenges. That’s what the “progressives” in the Democrat Party did, through organizations such as Justice Democrats, the group that recruited AOC. Democrats organize like mad, and if they aren’t satisfied with their incumbents, they challenge them. This is what we’re going to have to do with our own who fail to represent our views and values. Perhaps Trump could help with this. We must go into every race with the strongest ticket we can find, work like our freedom depends on it (because it does) and be assertive poll watchers!

But, again, the worst thing conservatives can do is split off and form a third party. Don’t even think about it!

Thank you Governor for your continued service to the country. You were my choice for President in 2012 and again in 2020 but that aside the people making comment must remember that popular vote does not elect the president but the electoral college vote does. More than a third party being necessary the manner in which electoral votes are won is the necessary change that must be enacted. When we look at the map of the country and see how many congressional districts (seats) are held by Republicans and how many are held by Democrats and how many of the Senate seats are held by one or the other parties, perhaps the winner take all system to assigning electoral votes should now be examined. Only two states currently split electoral votes (ME and NE) the remaining states use the winner take all system. If electoral votes were to be won by the candidate who wins the popular vote within a congressional district this would surely helps to swing the overwhelming power that the large costal urban areas have on presidential elections by redistributing a states electoral votes.
Since we know that states have the power to determine their election laws it is well within the power of a state legislature to change how electoral votes are awarded. If only a few of the swing states did this it could possibly change the outcome of any presidential election.

Democrats are very slick, to the point that if conservative blood would give them more votes, they'd all be leeches. Then, of course when a conservative even threatened to do something like that, they'd go nuts and continue 1,300,000,000 times more. All I can say is stay calm and watch every move they make, to keep us from acting like libs are great

I’m sorry to say that after watching in horror the spineless, cowards that turned on President Trump(still my President) so they can grovel to democratic cheaters, I’m done! The Vice President showing complete disdain for the President, McConnell doing his last backstabbing at the end. The Supreme Court neglecting their duties. This system is so deeply corrupted I don’t think we will ever see another election that is not corrupted.
The blathering that I was reading online about the cheating and how it would be turned around to show the true results. What happened.... nothing! So now elections CAN be stollen and everyone wants a kumbaya moment! Now the Republicans are again groveling at the feet of their masters. It’s disgusting and I will never vote for another turncoat Republican. If we are lost as a nation.. put it on the backs of those that betrayed us.

    Governor:
Since we cannot rid the Republican Party of the RINOS and politicians who place their political careers first over the nation's, the time has come for a third political party in America. The resistance President Trump faced during his first two years in office is ample evidence of "do-nothing Republicans."
A third party based upon American exceptionalism, pro-life, pro traditional marriage, equal opportunity- not equity and not spending away the futures of our grandchildren would attract both conservative Democrats and Republicans. Anyway, people of faith should "come out from among them" and form the American Party.

We in AL are trying to get national Republicans to understand how angry Republican voters are and keeping Cheney in leadership was incredibly stupid. See proposed resolution:
A Resolution Calling For the Removal of Rep. Liz Cheney as House Republican Caucus Chair

Whereas Speaker Pelosi has repeated numerous falsehoods regarding President Trump’s role in the unlawful invasion of the US Capitol on January 6, 2021,

Whereas Speaker Pelosi took no action against Democrat legislators who encouraged storming our sacred government buildings during 2018 Supreme Court Justice confirmation hearings,

Whereas the most prominent culprits in the damage to the Capitol offices were identified as members of a conspiracy group called Q-Anon, including one Q-Shaman,

Whereas the Constitutional actions required in impeaching President Trump on January 13, 2021 cannot be finalized prior to his leaving office January 20, 2021,

Whereas our nation is divided and strife-ridden to the point of friendships and families being irreparably harmed and the action of impeachment inflames those feelings,

Whereas House Republican Caucus Chair Liz Cheney has repeated these false allegations regarding our President, encouraged his impeachment, and inflamed divisions within our country, against the majority values of our party

We the members of the Republican Executive Committee Steering Committee ask that Congresswoman Cheney be removed from Chairmanship of the House Republican Caucus.

Governor, I would like to know how we can make sure that Republicans that talk a good game and do nothing are primaried. It seems like we are given Romney’s or McConnell’s to vote for, and honestly, I don’t see the point in holding my nose and voting for them anymore. There just isn’t much difference between them and the Democrats. Even the conservatives in Congress are ineffective and never challenge the leadership. Look at Cheney for example. I’m feeling very defeated. I understand your point about a third party, but I’m not sure the Republican Party is redeemable.

HYBRID - Blend the principles from TED NOEL'S "Great American Party".
Require (with a binding LEGAL CONTRACT) all candidates to agree to the principles.
Breach of contract if violated - "My vote for your action" - QUID PRO QUO ..
    ...
Just as Make America Great Again captured the imagination, this new party needs a name that grabs us. I propose that he should call it the "Great American Party." Every true patriot would be welcome to join. Next, it needs a permanent clear statement of principles, or it will immediately be taken over by hungry, corrupt people.

I agree that due to the math it would split the vote...but agree something needs to change. ON ANOTHER SUBJECT...if they are trying to impeach Trump after he has left office, why can't Obama be impeached for his part of the Russian Collusion Hoax? Isn't that clearly factual at this point? Why aren't Republicans bringing up this point? Thank you!

    Dear Mike,

Do you think Chicago school teachers, administrators, maintenance people missed a pay check during the COVID shut down?

I'll even bet that they received paid holidays, sick days, personal time, used accrued vacation pay and received a full pension year credit. They also had full health care benefits paid for by tax payers too.

I am sure they even received their 3% cost of living raises and job promotions to higher pay grades, haha!

I don’t hate teachers, my daughter is one. She burned out after seven years. She works for a DOD contractor now.

When I was employed in construction as a heavy equipment operator there were many years that I didn't get a full year union pension credit, I also received reduced health benefits or increased out of pocket cost for HC care due to only working six to eight months a year. I worked hard for a lifetime of forty years to accumulate twenty one years of pension retirement credits. In the eighties we took a dollar an hour from our pay checks for several years to pay for soaring HC premiums.

I was a good “union bot” I voted straight D, I pulled all the levers for democrats.
I hate to admit it but I actually voted for Mr. Hope & Change.

As a small business owner “BO” really pissed me off when he said that I didn’t build that. He wasn’t the one burning the midnight oil and working weekends to make sure the equipment was ready to go on Monday morning. I actually switched to the Republican Party just so that the Dem’s know that I am done with them.

John Kerry is such an entitled pompous ass suggesting somebody like me a crane operator with multiple special certifications and state liceneses and a life time of experience honing my skills go build solar panels. The last US solar panel manufacturer went to china with all the shovel ready jobs "BO" promised.

Thanks for letting me vent! I am home recovering from surgery on my big toe, I’ll be recuperating for the next three months so you may hear from me again.

    Bless you and your family……..

    Sincerely, James Covey

After the spineless GOP let the Dems toss Marjorie Greene off her committees while tolerating Eric Swalwell the traitor on the Intelligence Committee, I’ve lost all hope for the GOP status quo. Mitch McConnell stabbed our great President Trump in the back, slandered Trump supporters with his lies about the Jan 6 riots, and surrendered the government to the Dems. McCarthy isn’t much better. I will NEVER vote for a Republican who turned on Trump: NEVER. The establishment GOP thinks we will forget Trump, and that we won’t go Dem out of our fear of Communism. They are wrong: I will not support McConnell’s party.

Hello Governor Mike. Thanks for your patronage in keeping up the fight. I love your commentary on so many subjects. I too agree with this topic on a third party. That is what happens in Canadian politics with the three major parties. The Conservatives, the Liberals and the NDP (New Democratic Party). The NDP is the most social party and always sides with the liberals. Especially when promised elections bribes. Case in point when the Conservatives wanted an investigation into the corruption into the 'WE' Charity scandal involving the Trudeau family the NDP sided with the liberals to prevent that. In my opinion voters have to vote out the Rino's that don't the party line instead of trying to start a third party for it will split the vote. Thanks again.

Governor Huckabee - I loved your response. On target as always. Keep up the good work. I believe the next election will see new, unconventional, conservative, true red republicans running across the country. We need to be there to vote them in. We can't give up the ship!

  • Patricia M Hammons

    02/05/2021 01:24 PM

Your comment to Stephan was correct. Thank you for explaining it. I understood it much better also. I wish every republican voter would read that. We need to get the Rino's out and get strong people in and we need to stick together more.

  • Bob Curry

    02/05/2021 01:24 PM

Mr. Huckabee with all due respect sir I have been a Republican all my life and I am now 71. I admire you and your daughter immensely. However the Republican party seems to have lost it’s back bone and never stands up against the liberal democrats. It is like they want to be the nice guys, well that does not work against the radical democrats. I am not sure I can in good faith call myself a Republican again as I am tired of the back standers in the Senate and House. It would appear that nothing can be done they just keep getting elected and ride their career to the bank. They not the emigrate listen to We the People anymore and as can be seen since Obama forward justice does not live in America anymore. Politicians are above the law and I for one am sick of it. There may never be a legitimate election in this country again after Biden and his radical left destroy all our rights while the republicans stand by and cry wolf. Makes other some countries look better everyday. One truly dissatisfied Republican. No justice, no one willing to look at evidence, not even the Supreme Court. Biden could not get 80 million votes if he ran for five years and added all the votes together. The election was manipulated and we all know it, to bad no one wants to hear about it, or the evidence that we have. Just shows how spineless the republicans are. Oh well let’s just support ole Joe and see what happens! Over that philosophy!

    Governor Huckabee,
I greatly appreciate the time and effort that is put into your newsletter. I look forward to reading it every day. I have a question that I have never heard discussed anywhere. Is not the question of whether or not one is vaccinated for Covid-19 protected by HIPAA? I understand that some businesses are contemplating restricting their services to those who have not been vaccinated. By the way, this is a stark reminder of the prophecy in Revelation re: Mark of the Beast, where only those with the mark may buy or sell. I work for a government agency that provides support staff to certain elected officials. A co-worker of mine has been hesitant to receive the vaccine due to concerns over side-effects on certain health issues. She is working with her doctor on those concerns. Just today, she was informed by the elected official to whom she is assigned that he would no longer permit her to work in his department. She did not lose her job, but did lose a position she has held for 15 years. Shouldn't receiving the vaccine be a personal choice for each individual? Are we to be penalized for exercising personal freedom? Are we to be forced to participate in a medical process that could have detrimental effects on our future health? And I repeat my earlier question re: HIPAA regulations. I would be very interested in your thoughts on these issues. God bless you!

Gov, I don't agree. I truly believe the only way to heal the divide is a 3rd party. Look at Republicans coming out in support of an unconstitutional impeachment against Donald Trump. 75 million voted for him and if 75 million move into a new party it will be a force to be reckoned with. The Democrats after cheating with these mail in voting. They will make it an acceptable way to vote. They're already paving to way for Republicans to never win again. The way some spineless Republicans have behaved, I understand people not wanting to vote for them. Perhaps it a case of better the devil we know mentality.

I will have to respectfully disagree with you. I think we need to do away with all we have in DC and start over. Only this time let God lead us on how and who according to God's plan and never let what happened over the last 20 to 30 years ever come in this Country again. And if we keep our eyes on God and not what others offer as the best for us we will be and stay a God fearing and God following people. So I am all for starting over from scratch with new party's that love God , Country, and family right now we have nothing like that at all. It's time for a new beginning. Thank you.

Well said, Governor Mike. Thank you.
Those who want to split should go back and read our party platform. Then work to find and support candidates who truly support the platform. After all, is that not what the platform is for?
Oh, and perhaps we should all push our GOP to work harder for fair elections without so many "irregularities."
