Pro-Veterans rally postponed at the last minute

For 34 years, the veterans’ group AMVETS has held its Memorial Day motorcycle rally (now called “Rolling To Remember”) in Washington, DC. And for 32 years, the Pentagon has let them use their parking lot as a staging area. But not this year.

The Pentagon denied parking permits to the group, claiming concern that a large gathering could spread the coronavirus. Officials say they look forward to working with AMVETS again in the future, maybe by Labor Day.

The event will likely go on, as AMVETS scrambles to find a new staging area. They say they’re trying not to criticize the Pentagon, but this doesn’t set well with a lot of vets. They pulled the plug at the last minute, after many other local organizations, including the police, fire department and National Parks Service, were all on board. DC is allowing indoor museums to reopen, but shutting down an outdoor motorcycle parade. Does that make sense? There’s also a suspicion that Biden Pentagon appointees are wary of letting a more conservative group rally in Washington after the slanderous accusation of all Trump supporters being violent insurrectionists.

I have a solution: just claim that instead of being a pro-veterans rally, it’s an anti-police protest. We know that DC Democrats are all in favor of those and that the coronavirus never spreads at anti-police protests, even if nobody’s wearing masks.

    This is outrageous not to let the AMVETS hold a rally in Washington. They served our country honorably and also pay taxes as American citizens. All Americans should be able to use this national land and the AMVETS should be able to hold their motorcycle rally to honor the war dead on Memorial Day. They should not have to scramble at the last minute to look for a new location.

    The Demon craps can’t bear to watch Americans at their finest. It’s the number of them that scares them half to death.
    They can’t get more than a handful of people to their rally’s. Wait until President Trump starts his rally’s!!! Wow!

    What a slap in the face to Vets! This Pentagon is now becoming “woke” with canceling this annual tribute to Vets! Blaming the “pandemic” so they can’t use the parking lot for staging! People on motorcycles are not “ close”! Pentagon is becoming a weanie!!

    I agree in making it an anti police event. This is disrespectful to our veterans. I hope this entices even more to attend the rally.

    I am very disappointed in the Pentagon, and hopefully the Vets will soon find another staging area. My husband is a Retired US Army disabled veteran, and we love the military, but I’m afraid because the military is at the mercy of the President and they have to follow his lead

    The powers that be (they) wouldn’t provide security for a paid and permitted event called Back the Blue either. Marjorie Taylor Green was supposed to give a speech a long with other conservatives at the event but they had to cancel at the last moment. We’re told to stay within the law and we do but then laws are broken by the powers that be (them) to stop us. We’re told to stay peaceful but then those powers (they) run all over us. Are the “white hats” working with the “black hats” to force us into a corner? Hey, I can’t remember who said this but “give me liberty or give me death”!

    Such a shame we have Biden and Obama running our country. The bikers have held this rally for a great cause. The Dems tried to stop it last year but President Trump allowed it. How I wish we had Trump in office!

    Mike, I’m from Cabot Arkansas and have been a supporter of yours for many years. Now have to back Sarah; she’s got our vote.
    Mike the Democrats are no longer Democrats they bypassed socialism and went full blown communist. Something has to be done soon before all is lost. I’m 66 years old and never would have dreamed something like this would happen to American. The wife and I both are retired military so we have deep concerns.

    It's sad that the Biden Administration isn't for the people. And Biden says he wants unity. Examples like this is preventing unity. He and the Democrats are controlling the U.S. like a communist country. Where is our freedom?
