With polls showing Trump leading Biden by seven points in Arizona, the state’s Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes announced (coincidentally, I’m sure) multiple felony indictments of a number of top Republicans for allegedly attempting to “overturn” Biden’s win. The alleged crimes include conspiracy and election law forgery and are aimed at 11 prominent Arizona Republicans, including the former state party chairwoman and her husband and two state Senators, as well as top Trump associates, including Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows. Trump is allegedly an “unindicted co-conspirator.” Mayes really dropped the ball by becoming the first Democrat prosecutor to leave Trump unindicted.

As the linked story explains, this is another attempt to weaponize the legal system and accuse Republicans of trying to overturn an election by naming “fake electors” (the accurate term is “alternate electors”) in case the election was found to be tainted and the win ended up going to Trump. Up until the Democrats started trying to lawfare their way into power like Third World banana republic tyrants, this was a standard electoral procedure in close and disputed elections.

It’s a pathetic sign of how desperate the Dems must be in Arizona for Mayes, who apparently has no real crime to deal with, to pull such a transparently political abuse of power three-and-a-half years after the election and with the 2024 election just months away.

Mayes won in 2022 by just 0.01% of the vote, or less than 300 votes out of about 3 million cast, becoming the first Democrat to hold that office since 2006. And this is what she’s doing with it. Unfortunately, the state is stuck with her for another two years. I hope that some court will have the intelligence to throw this abominable case out, but I’m not hopeful. This will have to serve as a hard lesson to Arizona voters that if you can’t recall her, then crawl over the burning desert if you have to in 2026, but get to the polls and vote to kick her and every other power-abusing Democrat out of office.
