It’s getting harder to shock and outrage Americans these days, so you’ve got to hand it to Federal Judge Richard Young for actually raising (or lowering) the bar.

Young sided with the ACLU (of course) and “transgender” prison inmate Jonathan C. Richardson, aka “Autumn Cordellionè,” ruling that the state of Indiana must provide Richardson with taxpayer-paid “gender reassignment surgery.” Richardson is in prison for strangling his 11-month-old stepdaughter to death in 2001. The judge ruled:

“Ms. Cordellione? has shown that her gender dysphoria is a serious medical need, and that, despite other treatments Defendant has provided her to treat her gender dysphoria, she requires gender-affirming surgery to prevent a risk of serious bodily and psychological harm." Therefore, not giving Richardson free sex change surgery would be “cruel and unusual punishment” in violation of the Eighth Amendment. Funny, I'm old enough to remember when castration was considered cruel and unusual punishment.

Do you know what’s genuinely cruel and unusual punishment? Being strangled to death at the age of 11 months.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita tweeted that “you can undoubtedly expect our office to appeal this decision." I also like Greg Gutfeld’s suggestion that the taxpayers should provide that judge with free lobotomy surgery.
