US Army top priorities are revealed
You might think that the #1 priority for the US Army is to be ready to defend America militarily. But according to Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth, you would be wrong. What’s really important is making “marginalized communities” feel included.
And this should help you sleep easy at night: that now covers including people who can’t pass the standard body fat test.
Incidentally, when questioned about destroying our military with wokeness, Wormuth fell back on the now-cliched tactic of saying, “I’m not sure what ‘woke’ means.” If you have to say that, then you’re woke. Either that, or someone lowered the standard intelligence test requirement to give you your job.
If you think that’s too harsh, then meet Kelisa Wing, the “diversity, equity and inclusion chief” of the Pentagon’s education wing, who proudly describes herself as “woke.” She also recommends that classrooms utilize an anti-police, “social justice” book that describes the first responders who risked and sacrificed their lives to save others on 9/11 as “menaces.”
This would be a good time to remind you that the midterm elections are exactly three weeks and one day away.
Poll Updates
I always urge Republicans not to put too much stock in polls, and just keep working as if we’re down 10 points and have to make it up somehow. But that caveat aside, the election is getting close enough that even biased polling outfits have to start admitting the truth or risk looking completely incompetent when the votes come in. So we’re actually seeing polls by outlets like CNN and the New York Times delivering some grim news to Democrats. Indications are that it won’t just be a red wave, it will be a bloodbath (figuratively, of course!)
The latest New York Times/Sienna College poll finds that despite relentless media bashing, Donald Trump would beat Joe Biden 45-44% if the election were held today. On the generic ballot poll, likely voters prefer Republicans over Democrats by 49-45%. Voters ranked the economy and inflation as their top issues, while only 5% named abortion, and 64% believe the country is on the wrong track. Biden’s approval has slipped below 40%, and only 33% of registered voters would vote for him if the election were held today.
The latest Rasmussen poll also shows Republicans with a 7-point generic ballot lead, 48-41%.
Three other generic ballot polls show Republicans ahead by anywhere from 2 to 6 points, and those include CBS and Harvard polls.
As that linked story explains, this is stunning because GOP pollsters assume the polls undercount Republicans (this year, I think they’ve vastly undercounted, with so many refusing to talk to pollsters out of concern that the FBI will raid their homes.) They say it usually signals a big GOP win if the Democrats lead by only 3 points. In these polls, the Dems are behind by as much as 7 points. Among likely voters in competitive districts, Republicans lead by 48-43%.
Good news, but still: keep working as if we’re down by 10. That way, we can build a big enough vote lead to overcome any totally nonexistent Democrat vote fraud.
Democrat candidate dodges debate in Arizona
I’ve seen characters in horror movies spend less time running in terror from mad slashers than Arizona Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs spends running in terror from debating her Republican opponent, Kari Lake. A number of Democrats are dodging debates this year, but Hobbs has turned it into a full-time occupation, prodded by Lake’s persistence in trying to get her to defend her views. Lake was even ejected from a townhall because Hobbs couldn’t function knowing she was in the same room with her.
Hobbs’ aversion to debating Lake has become so chronic that even sycophantic media outlets are starting to notice. Sunday, both candidates were interviewed (separately, of course) by CNN’s Dana Bash. Bash pointed out to Hobbs that Lake had just answered all her questions live, and asked why, if Lake is as “dangerous to democracy” as she claims, Hobbs won’t debate her? Hobbs replied, “That’s exactly what I am doing right now.”
As a veteran of quite a few political debates, let me just say this: “No, you aren’t. You’re talking to a friendly media outlet with your opponent nowhere around. That’s not a debate. That’s an interview.”
But I can see why she doesn’t want to debate if she can’t even handle her puffball shots on CNN. Hobbs was asked five times if she supported any limits at all on abortion on demand, and she dodged the question five times. She also denied that the Democrats bear any responsibility for rampaging inflation, claiming it’s driven by “skyrocketing housing costs.” First, no, it’s not. Second, so housing is more expensive because housing is more expensive?
In response, Lake channeled her inner Dr. Seuss, saying, “I will debate you on a stage. I will debate you in a parking lot. I will debate in a library. I will debate you in a bar. I will debate you in a car. I will debate you on CNN. I will debate you on MSNBC...I’ll even debate you on ‘The View,’ and let Joy Behar and Whoopi ask the questions. But show some courage!”
Election 2022: The Democrats’ Big Lie
Speaking of Democrats dodging the question of whether they back any limits on abortion, one of the biggest lies of the current campaign is that the Democrats want to “codify Roe v. Wade” into federal law. No, they don’t. They want something far more radical even than Roe. Both Roe and the later ruling that altered it, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, took into account such issues as the trimester of development or viability of the fetus in determining whether certain state restrictions were allowed. In the last Congress, every Democrat except Rep. Henry Cuellar and Sen. Joe Manchin voted to legalize abortion up to the moment of birth (it was disingenuously called "the Women's Health Protection Act.") That’s what the Party is pushing now, and it's an extreme position shared by only a tiny minority of Americans.
It seems that to them, a baby doesn’t become a human being with any rights until it’s old enough to tell its parents what gender it’s decided to be.
Senate incumbent loses debate with himself
Here’s something you don’t see every day: an incumbent Senator participated in a debate where his main rival wasn’t even present, but you could make the case that the incumbent still lost the debate.

Following-up on Fauci
I haven’t written much about Dr. Anthony Fauci lately because most Americans have stopped listening to him. Still, nothing will ever negate the damage his agency inflicted by taking the most draconian positions on COVID based on fault data and abusing government power not only to shut down businesses, schools and churches, but to censor informed objections as deadly “misinformation,” even when he was wrong and his critics were right.
So I recommend this article in Commentary magazine by James B. Meigs of the Manhattan Institute. It’s called “How Anthony Fauci Became a Bobblehead,” referring to how liberals buy bobblehead dolls of him as quasi-religious icons, like those of Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Kamala Harris (although the Kamala Harris bobbleheads might be the real Kamala Harris.)

It’s even-handed and doesn’t assume that Fauci is an evil conspirator. But with even the CDC finally starting to admit its critics were correct, this is a good time to look back at what was done under his auspices and how this unelected and unaccountable bureaucrat was given way too much power and used it to crush Americans’ rights. We should all know this so we can make sure it NEVER happens again. (Bonus: you might be surprised to learn the role that Dick Cheney played in giving him that much power.)
I have to highlight this quote from Meigs’ article. Since I first started doing media commentary in 2009, I’ve been giving virtually the same warning about people who claim their opinions are “settled science,” starting with apocalyptic climate radicals and now ranging from COVID hysterics to transgenderism quacks:
“No one ‘represents’ science. Science is a radically transparent system of inquiry, debate, and a willingness to challenge received wisdom. As soon as any individual claims the authority to speak for science as a whole, that person is doing the opposite of science.”
The media’s attempt to hoodwink voters
Democrats are so used to the media being biased in their favor, they take it for granted as an entitlement. For instance, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman’s wife Giselle said that NBC reporter Dana Bash should “face consequences” for accurately reporting the fact that her stroke victim husband had to read the questions off a computer to hold a conversation.
But that’s not the most blatant media servicing of a Democratic candidate in this story. The Rolling Stone writer tweeted that Giselle Fetterman had become a “de facto candidate and political star,” then after realizing the implications, deleted that and changed “de facto candidate” to “key surrogate for her husband.”
This attempt to try to hoodwink the voters is sadly nothing new. America has even had a President who became mentally incapacitated to the point that his wife was secretly running the White House. I refer, of course, to…
