SCOTUS delivers a surprise
You have to say one thing for Arizona Democrat gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs
She’s consistent. During the primary, she refused to debate her opponent Marco Lopez; and now, she’s refused to debate her Republican opponent, Kari Lake. In a remarkably arrogant statement, Hobbs’ campaign manager said, “Unfortunately, debating a conspiracy theorist like Kari Lake – whose entire campaign platform is to cause enormous chaos and make Arizona the subject of national ridicule – would only lead to constant interruptions, pointless distractions, and childish name-calling."
Names like what, “chicken”? Because pardon me for pointing this out, but that seems remarkably accurate.
The fruits of Joe Manchin’s deal with the devil
Speaking of Joe Manchin selling out his principles, it’s starting to look as if he will get precisely nothing in exchange for them. Manchin got a feeble promise of oil lease permitting reform and an oil pipeline in West Virginia in exchange for his decisive vote for their risible “Inflation Reduction Act,” which actually explodes the size and power of the IRS while showering $350 billion on their “green energy” cronies.
Now that they’ve got what they want from Manchin, Democrats are threatening to withhold their votes for a government funding bill if the pro-oil promises made to him aren’t removed. Leftists like Rep. Rashida Tlaib say they owe Manchin nothing. Meanwhile, Republicans are furious at him for double-crossing them. And he’s torpedoed his political career, with a new poll showing him losing badly to any of three different Republican challengers.
When will people ever learn that when you make a deal with the devil, you end up with nothing?

New Orleans’ Democratic Mayor LaToya Cantrell is fighting criticism of her habit of upgrading her flights to First Class at taxpayer expense by claiming that it’s a matter of personal safety for her not to fly coach. She said her critics “don’t understand the world black women walk in.”
Apparently, if you’re a black woman, it’s dangerous for you to fly coach. As the article notes, many of her staffers are black men and women, and they’re required to fly coach, so I guess they must be getting attacked all the time by marauders or bears or something.
C-SPAN gets an earful
C-SPAN recently asked viewers to call in and tell them which party could best be trusted to deal with the current crime wave: Democrats or Republicans? I don’t think they were expecting a couple of the calls they got.
