DAILY BIBLE VERSE
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
Nahum 1:7
1. If you need any more reasons why FBI (why did I start to type “FIB?” Freudian slip?) Director Christopher Wray needs to go, try this
By Mike Huckabee
On Thursday, Wray addressed the World Economic Forum, that collection of pampered, would-be dictators in Davos, where he lauded the “level of cooperation” (some might say “collusion”) between the government and Big Tech. Wray declared:
“I think the sophistication of the private sector is improving and, particularly important, the level of collaboration between the private sector and the government, especially the FBI has, I think, made significant strides. Pretty much every technology we could talk about today, we see both great opportunity, but great, great dangers in the wrong hands.”
I do agree with him about the “great, great dangers,” but I have a feeling we would disagree about what constitutes “the wrong hands.” To see why, read the full article for a recap of recent revelations about the government colluding with social media to squelch free speech and brand differing opinions and legitimate objections to government policies as “disinformation” to be censored.
I’m sure this speech got a rousing ovation from this crowd, who have been repeatedly promoting the “rules-based international order” and expressing admiration and yearning for the way China has found of imposing all those wonderful rules and order, even if it requires totalitarianism, censorship, constant monitoring, starvation, genocide and the occasional visit to a concentration camp.
At least it’s been enjoyable to see some of the reporters at Davos actually speak up and aggressively question these hyperbolic hypocrites, from the CEO of Pfizer to John Kerry. Kerry claims that it’s okay for him to jet around the world because he’s doing so much more important work than the rest of us (he is saving the planet, after all), and besides, he pays for carbon offsets to negate all the CO2 his private jet is spewing.
Yeah, about that…
A new study by the liberal newspaper the Guardian, the German weekly Die Zeit and the journalism nonprofit Source Material found that more than 90% of the so-called “rainforest carbon offsets” sold by Verra, the biggest provider of them to virtue-signaling companies like Disney and Gucci, are “largely worthless.” They’re likely to be “phantom credits” that don’t represent any carbon reductions. There’s a lot more at this link, like a claim that Verra overstated the threat to forests in its projects by about 400%. (FYI: Verra disputes the findings.)
Please note that I linked to the Guardian, not a conservative site. So this is what people you think would be supporters of this stuff are saying about them.
Related: Say, remember those recent deadly California storms that liberal politicians and celebrities were blaming on manmade climate change? The liberal L.A. Times helped promote that narrative. Well, even the Times now admits that according to researchers, there’s no evidence of a link between climate change and those storms, which are part of a recurring cycle of heavy storms that have been hitting California about every decade since records started being kept in the 1800s. I guess back then, they were caused by emissions from horses.
2. George Santos Update
By Mike Huckabee
Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) are still demanding that recently-elected New York Republican Rep. George Santos resign for lying about his background and misleading voters. The evidence has been pretty damning, but just as with Trump’s classified files, their righteous indignation has been undercut by the fact that Biden makes Trump and Santos look like amateurs on both fronts.
The latest accusation against Santos really came out of left field (literally): a claim that he used to perform as a drag queen in Brazil. This one he categorically denies.
I don’t know why the Dems think that’s supposed to shock voters. You’d think if he really were a drag queen, they’d be demanding that he not only stay in Congress but also visit kindergartens on his days off.
My opinion of Santos has always been that if it’s true he won his seat due to lies and misleading the voters, then he should resign, but so should every other politician of either Party who did the same, starting with Biden (and throw in all the Deep Staters and media people who enabled the lying and misleading of voters.) Still waiting for that standard to be applied across the board.
HOWEVER…I will say that if this new accusation that he cheated a homeless veteran out of money raised on GoFundMe for vet care for his service dog turns out to be true (and to be clear, it’s just an accusation at this point), then he will need to go, no matter what.

3. Good commentary
Good commentary on how Antifa is now openly calling on its chapter to launch violence nationwide against police, yet the Biden DOJ refuses to recognize them as an organized terrorist group. But they have a well-funded task force to trace down every granny who walked past the Capitol on January 6th and hound them into the slammer.

4. Paul Pelosi Update
By Mike Huckabee
Remember the story about the mysterious attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul? That seems to have disappeared from the news even though there are a lot of questions, which, months later, remain unanswered. Even liberal media outlets are starting to wonder why they’re being blocked from finding out the answers. They’re so curious, in fact, that they’re starting to file lawsuits over it.
Pardon my cynicism, but I wonder if they would have the same burning desire to protect the public’s right to know if Nancy Pelosi were still Speaker?
FYI: In case you’ve forgotten, here’s what this is all about:
5. David Crosby RIP
By Mike Huckabee
By “Huckabee” pop culture guru Pat Reeder
With boomer music fans still mourning the death of Jeff Beck, word comes that another rock pioneer of the ‘60s has passed on. Singer/songwriter David Crosby died Wednesday at 81 after a short illness. He reportedly died peacefully in bed, in the company of his longtime wife Jan and son Django.
Crosby was the co-founder of two legendary groups: The Byrds, with whom he recorded five albums, and Crosby, Stills and Nash (occasionally Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.) He also recorded and toured for decades with various combinations of CSNY, as well as releasing solo albums.
As impressive as his music career was, Crosby was also synonymous with the image of the out-of-control rock star, and he suffered for years from drug addiction that contributed to his many health problems, including diabetes. Some even said that as sad as his death was, it was a miracle that he made it to 81, considering his self-destructive years and the fact that he had a liver transplant in 1994. His hedonistic rock star image was second only to Keith Richards, who, equally miraculously, is still going strong at 79.
These links include comments from his bandmates and other famous musicians...
…and Crosby’s ironic final tweet.
