The PC Speech Police go to college
By Mike Huckabee
The PC speech police have already tried to cancel such words as “mother and father” and “he and she.” Now, the faculty senate at Penn State University has voted to do away with the iconic college terms, “freshman, sophomore, junior and senior.” I’m going to quote exactly what they said because if I relayed it in my own words, you’d think I was auditioning to write satire for the Babylon Bee:
“The University, as with most all academic institutions world-wide, has grown out of a typically male-centered world. As such, many terms in our lexicon carry a strong, male-centric, binary character to them. Terms such as ‘freshmen’ are decidedly male-specific, while terms such as ‘upperclassmen’ can be interpreted as both sexist and classist...Terms such as ‘junior’ and ‘senior’ are parallel to western male father-son naming conventions, and much of our written documentation uses he/she pronouns.”
No, seriously, that's a direct quote. They recommend replacing these terms with “1st-year, 2nd-year, 3rd-year and 4th-year,” and for those who stay longer, “5th-year.” But wait, even that is “problematic”:
“Concerns have been raised that numbering years beyond the fourth (4th) would perhaps negatively reflect on students who, for various reasons, are taking longer to complete their (typically) four-year programs, and are also referred to as ‘super-seniors’. In this case, the term does often carry a slightly negative connotation. Students in such situations beyond the fourth (4th) year could instead be referred to as ‘advanced-standing’ students.”
Hold on there, eggheads! I take great offense at the term “advanced standing!” It sounds as if you’re implying that people who’ve been there longer than four years have superior status to others, which is a relic of the patriarchal, classist meritocracy!
But it gets even worse. They also recommend that the school replace the classist terms “underclassmen” and “upperclassmen” with “lower division” and “upper division.” How DARE they imply that newer students (many of them gay trans students of color, I’d assume) are of LOWER status than white males in the so-called “UPPER division!”
I demand that all of these professors be immediately suspended, reprimanded, and put in stocks so students can throw rotten vegetables at them for their insensitivity to their own classist privilege!
I also recommend that they be forced to read George Orwell, who once observed that there are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them.
As for my recommendations of what university you should send your kids to, you can scratch another one off the list.
PS – As long as I’m recommending universities your kids shouldn’t attend, I’d also suggest avoiding any schools that claim they’re fighting racism by bringing back segregation:

Important Vaccine Update
By Mike Huckabee
A blood expert in Germany believes he’s figured out why the Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca PLC COVID vaccines may trigger blood clots in some people.
Kellogg's jumps on the bandwagon
By Mike Huckabee
Add Kellogg’s to the list of corporations jumping on the bandwagon of shoving leftist PC propaganda down customers’ throats. In this case, literally. The cereal giant has teamed with the gay rights group GLAAD to create a “woke” cereal called “Together With Pride.” It comes in a purple box to promote gay pride.
Warning: like a lot of sugary cereals, a big bowl of PC propaganda just might leave you feeling a little queasy if you swallow too much of it.
Is this news?!?
By Mike Huckabee
Not sure this is even news, but I try to be thorough, so I’ll mention that about 150 anti-Trump Republicans and former Republican leaders signed a letter demanding that the party return to its principles (as they apparently define them) or they might leave and form a new party.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/anti-trump-republican-group-mcmullin
Considering this group includes such raving anti-Trump partisans as George Conway, I’m sure most Republicans will be able to hold back their tears at their departure. They credulously repeat the Democrats’ propaganda that Trump encouraged the January 6th Capitol violence (which they wildly claim was an actual insurrection attempt) and that any suspicions about the 2020 election results are part of a “Big Lie” conspiracy.
Evan McMullin claimed that "a fourth to a third of the party has desired a new direction for it. Obviously, that’s still a minority of the party, but it’s a significant number." True, but I suspect it’s also a number pulled out of his hat. For instance, McMullin ran as an Independent against Trump and Clinton in 2016 and scored 0.5% of the national vote. He spent the next four years attacking Trump and endorsed Biden in 2020, so it seems to me that he left the GOP long ago.
And in a recent Texas special election, Trump-endorsed candidate Susan Wright came in first while an anti-Trumper endorsed by letter-signer Rep. Adam Kinzinger came in 5th among Republicans and 9th overall, scoring 2503 votes out of 78,374 cast. That’s 3.2% of the total vote or about 5% of the Republican vote. I’d have to have the math skills of a Squad member to think that’s a fourth to a third of the party.
Personally, I don’t want to see the Republicans lose any votes, and I think it’s foolish to try to split the party when there are such narrow margins of victory and so much at stake. But I can’t fathom how anyone could make an A-B comparison between Trump’s actions over four years (protecting life, defending religious freedom, securing the border, supporting Israel, standing up for American workers, and on and on) and the radical leftist destruction Biden has wrought in just his first 100 days, and think Trump is the biggest threat to traditional American values and the Constitution. If you believe that, you don’t need your own political party; you either need a psychiatrist or a few dozen more I.Q. points.
This is news
By Mike Huckabee
In a somewhat related story, a more relevant group also released an open letter with a very different message. A coalition of 124 retired generals and admirals known as Flag Officers 4 America put out a statement questioning President Biden’s mental health and warning that “our nation is in great peril.” They declare, “We are in a fight for our survival as a Constitutional Republic like no other time since our founding in 1776. The conflict is between supporters of Socialism and Marxism vs. supporters of Constitutional freedom and liberty.”
Might I suggest that those hissy-fit-throwing anti-Trumpers read over this. Maybe it would give them an attitude adjustment and remind them of what “priorities” are.
Don't listen to the polls (reposting)
By Mike Huckabee
Here’s why I always warn people not to listen to polls taken a year in advance.
A year ago, the media were slamming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for allegedly turning Florida into a killing field with his reluctance to shut down the whole state over COVID-19. Meanwhile, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo as being hailed as a genius, handed an inexplicable Emmy Award, and writing a self-congratulatory book. Polls reflected this, with DeSantis dropping 11 points to 53%, while Cuomo skyrocketed to 72% approval.
One year later, Cuomo’s devastating bad decisions are finally being uncovered and he’s fighting efforts to impeach and remove him. Meanwhile, Florida is a COVID success story and DeSantis is at 55% approval, including 22% of Democrats, and holds double-digit leads over all his reelection challengers.
Then again, DeSantis’ race isn’t until next fall. I wish him well, but remind him: yesterday’s polls are like yesterday’s newspapers; only good for bird cage liner.
A Reader Writes Back...
Governor Huckabee - I really appreciate the way you deliver important news and facts with a dose of humor that helps us to take it in and think about what is happening with courage and resolve rather than fear. The daily Scripture verse helps a lot too.
