After six votes Wednesday, holdouts were still refusing to back Rep. Kevin McCarthy, and the House voted to adjourn and reconvene later today. Reports are that negotiations continued last night with some possible progress. The New York Times, citing confidential sources, claims that McCarthy “privately agreed to more demands from the right-wing rebels that he had previously refused to countenance, including allowing a single lawmaker to force a snap vote at any time to oust him from the speakership.”

McCarthy has offered an astounding number of concessions, listed here by Victoria Taft at PJ Media.

The Club For Growth has also reportedly cut a deal with a super PAC associated with McCarthy that could result in them endorsing him as Speaker.

Fox News has comments from Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, the latest alternative proposed for McCarthy.

As noted in the article, until there’s a Speaker, the new House can’t even be sworn in, so this is preventing necessary action from being taken on many fronts.

McCarthy’s detractors still have no alternative candidate who is more conservative and can attract enough votes to win. They keep pointing to the last time conservatives forced McCarthy to withdraw in 2015, but back then, a dark horse “unity” candidate stepped forward and won. Considering that was Paul Ryan, whom they now vilify as a squishy, Trump-hating RINO, it’s not exactly a ringing endorsement for this strategy.

This is a continuing (and continuing!) story, so keep checking the regularly updated Fox News feed for the latest developments.

One thing to note:  While the 10% wants to rule over the 90% (who has ever allowed that or thought it was the way elections work?), it’s revealing that some of the holdouts have said in interviews that what they are “demanding” of Kevin McCarthy is that they get choice committee assignments and a promise they won’t be punished for their attempted coup.  That’s not only delusional, but very telling.  If a person is objecting by sheer principle, one is willing to suffer whatever the consequences for the rebellion.  When a person says, “Hey, this is about ME…protecting MY position, MY role in leadership, and MY being able to take any shot I want at 90% of my colleagues and have no consequence other than being rewarded.”  THAT my friend is NOT acting on “principle.”  It’s a selfish act of a power grab and publicity stunt.  Reward THAT behavior and you’ll keep getting more of it in the future.

I don't see it as the 10% wanting to rule over the 90 at all. It seems to me that the 10% are the ones trying to put a stop to the RINO's and swamp creatures, which from from I've read McCarthy is one of them, from being in power to do what they've been doing for far too long.

I totally disagree with you, Mike Huckabee! These 20 dissenters to the status quo are representing the reason there was no red wave in 2022! McCarthy is a swamp rat - there are other reasons this group is trying to wake everyone up! I agree with them - we need NEW leadership in the GOP! I’m 69 years old, always voted REPUBLICAN but am seriously considering going Independent! I am tired of the GOP being spineless and caving when we have the majority! Get rid of these parasitic RINO lifers!

I left a comment yesterday - Mike you are a really great man but you are
blinded by the established politicians who just continue to take the same actions over and over - these actions never get the real conservatives anywhere.

Kevin has been the speaker, He did not represent the real conservatives well, heck I think he was even scared of old Nancy - notice that the younger ones are not going to accept status quo - same old lies, same old do nothing -
I am a senior citizen and I am very proud that they are EXERCISING THEIR RIGHTS to question a person they consider a sell out -

God forgives, but the consequences do not always go away, you have to live
    with those -

Again, to repeat my comment yesterday, you supported the 2 Arkansas senators who are sell outs - and of course you can throw in our house reps as well - No fight in them at all - they were elected and now they don't care what
    their constituents think!

How in the world are we permitting this handful of people to.hold 200 people hostage,. in order to elect a Speaker of the House? Not democracy. It's SOCIALISM.

The Republican party is going to be greatly weakened by this infighting. This is exactly what Biden, Pelosi, Schumer and the Democrats want. The RINO's are doing a great disservice to our nation and do not care. How they keep getting re-elected is beyond me. The whole thing is disgusting and shameful and will greatly hurt our nation. I think the Democrats have gotten to the RINO's, with promises of money, power and greed while the evil nations laugh while America is weakened by this childish behavior.

Trump is the best choice. Great campaigner and he gets things done.
McCarthy is a squish, liberal Californian. We can do better.

My husband have this discussion almost every day about how the congress works. I say, how can they make that decision, that law, ignore the border, ignore the DEBT? And he always says: "Because they can! and because they DON'T CARE,. I t's all about what they can do for themselves. You know, I'm okay with them achieving success for themselves, as long as it mostly is in the best interests of the country. But when they refuse to look beyond themselves and only care how they can enrich themselves and come out on top in the "deal" that I see corruption. The final deal should be FOR THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE COUNTRY! That's all.

I responded yesterday as well. This is just plain shameful...an outrage! Who do these "5 holdouts" think they are? I saw the interview last night on the Hannity show. Sean had Boegert on The Hot Seat" segment. Her entire demeanor dripped with vengeance & hate towards Kevin McCarthy! Hers is purely a personal vendetta...not political, Republican or conservative based. My husband can't even watch anything politics...he votes, but is at a. Rossroads to ever vote again. He thinks that the Democrats are "paying off" these 5 holdouts to stop the process of voting McCarthy in a majority Speaker of the House. Actually, given the political corruption...that is a plausible concern & possibility. ?? I watch your show on TBN & saw the segment you had with Boebert...hindsight is 20/20!!! I have lost all respect for Boebert. But, still praying for a resolution to this terrible embarrassment a few are causing our Republican party....and Nation! ??????

I 100% stand with the 20. Kevin McCarthy is as much a part of the Swamp as anyone in Washington. This is no time for more of the same.
