Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and some fellow Senate Republicans seem determined to hand the Democrats a win on a silver platter and tie the hands of the incoming GOP House by taking away its ability to control the federal budget. All that was necessary was a stopgap bill to keep the government funded through January. Yet they’re backing the omnibus bill that locks in $1.7 trillion in spending through next September. And as Bonchie writes at Redstate.com, the text of the bill has now been released, and that’s only the beginning of the awfulness contained in it.
Bonchie points out that McConnell’s justification for backing this massive sellout is that it funds the military, which is cold comfort in a time when the Pentagon is being run by leftist desk jockeys who are so obsessed with prioritizing wokeness over winning wars that they can’t even get enough recruits to join without lowering standards to the basement.
This is the type of eager capitulation that makes some voters not even bother to vote because they figure electing Republicans won’t make any difference anyway.
