Wednesday morning, the House Judiciary Committee released a shocking report on corporate collusion to silence conservative online news outlets and commentators by blocking their advertising revenue. Well, it was hardly shocking to me, but it confirmed a lot of my suspicions after doing my newsletter for years.

At the center of the censorship conspiracy is an organization we’ve written about before: GARM, or the Global Alliance for Responsible Media. It’s one of those leftist groups with an innocuous-sounding name that states the opposite of its actual agenda.

I won’t attempt to condense all the data because there’s so much of it. GARM’s own explanation of what it does is a rambling edifice of buzzwords and bull droppings, almost awe inspiring in the way it manages to use so many syllables to hide its actual intent. Here’s just a small excerpt:

GARM is “an industry-first effort that unites marketers, media agencies, media platforms, industry associations, and advertising technology solutions providers to safeguard the potential of digital media by reducing the availability and monetization of harmful content online.”

It goes on and on, but according to the House investigators, what it boils down to is that GARM identifies conservative outlets and podcasts, monitors and threatens them, brands them as “dangerous misinformation,” and puts them on an advertising blacklist to client companies to drive them out of business. Sound familiar?

The report also claims that GARM’s leader and co-founder, Rob Rakowitz, repeatedly “provided…inaccurate information” and contradicted documented evidence obtained by the committee.

The report says that internal GARM documents obtained by the committee show a clear political bias in choosing which outlets they recommend advertisers avoid, including recommending ads be pulled from Twitter after Elon Musk bought it. The report says that “a GARM Steer Team member expressed concern about Mr. Musk exposing the truth regarding how Twitter was previously used to censor the Hunter Biden laptop and Biden family influence peddling story, describing Mr. Musk’s position as an ‘overtly partisan take.’”

Well, we can’t have people going around telling the truth! That would be overly partisan!

Sounds like the kind of restraint of trade that the SEC would be investigating if we had an executive branch that enforced laws against leftists. Let’s hope that both freedom of speech and the rule of law will be restored in 2025.
