YouTube boots LifeSite News

February 11, 2021

In one of the most outrageous assaults yet by Big Tech on freedom of speech, Google-owned YouTube has permanently banned the LifeSiteNews channel, the video arm of the pro-life news website, which had over 300,000 subscribers. They also removed all of the many videos they had posted.

It’s not clear yet why YouTube completely wiped the site's channel. Speculation is that it may be because of the site’s coverage of vaccines, but they aren’t anti-vaxxers. From what I’ve seen, they’ve mostly just covered debates on the legality of mandated vaccines and the morality of vaccines created using aborted fetal cells. LifeSiteNews covers the news from a traditional Judeo-Christian perspective. Is that what got it banned?

Fortunately, all the videos were backed up, and LifeSiteNews is working to build up its alternative outlets on platforms such as Rumble. If you are a subscriber to their YouTube channel and wonder where they went – or if you want to send a message about free speech to Google and YouTube – you can learn where to find them at their new locations at this link:

Must-read

February 11, 2021

Glenn Greenwald, one of the last of a dying breed of brave, honest, liberal journalists, writes about the growing plague of spies, snitches and tattletales from big corporate media outlets like CNN, NBC and the New York Times who are so offended by the concept of free speech that they’re obsessed with ensuring nobody anywhere on the Internet is able to speak freely without being publicly shamed and having their reputations and careers destroyed.

He offers a number of ignominious examples of these professional wokescolds ruining people, including a New York Times reporter who spent months infiltrating a free speech app discussion group before “exposing” that a Silicon Valley entrepreneur said a politically-incorrect word. Problem: he never said that word. Someone else did, but that person was clearly just quoting a Reddit group that used it. When called on her malicious false reporting, the Times snitch just said thanks for the “clarification” and reiterated how hurtful it is to use that word. When that weasel move didn’t work, she deleted the tweet and locked her account.

To quote Greenwald:

“But this is now the prevailing ethos in corporate journalism. They have insufficient talent or skill, and even less desire, to take on real power centers: the military-industrial complex, the CIA and FBI, the clandestine security state, Wall Street, Silicon Valley monopolies, the corrupted and lying corporate media outlets they serve. So settling on this penny-ante, trivial bull(bleep) — tattling, hall monitoring, speech policing: all in the most anti-intellectual, adolescent and primitive ways — is all they have. It’s all they are. It’s why they have fully earned the contempt and distrust in which the public holds them.”

I’ll bet you want to read it all now, don’t you?

"Comedy"

February 11, 2021

Since I know you have not been watching, Joe Concha at The Hill did the dirty work for you and watched some recent episodes of what passes for late night “comedy” shows nowadays.

"It's a trap!"

February 11, 2021

Not satisfied with interfering with elections, destroying competitors and silencing free speech, Twitter and Facebook are apparently concerned that people are getting around their speech/thought control efforts by putting out their own newsletters.

Social Media Update

February 9, 2021

After being banned by most social media outlets, President Trump returned with his first post since January. It’s just a repost of his attorneys’ blunt response to the Senate’s letter inviting him to testify in his “impeachment” trial. But the opening sentence was familiarly Trumpian: “We are in receipt of your latest public relations stunt…”

I’m sure that Trump supporters will be most interested in knowing where he chose to post it, and that was at Gab.com. This story reports that Parler.com offered him 40% of the business if he went exclusively with them (naturally, Democrats are “DEMANDING AN INVESTIGATION,” even though Trump didn't do it – I’m more interested in investigating Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s $100 million in-kind contribution to electing Biden, but don’t hold your breath waiting for that.)

Meanwhile, Parler is still offline. But investor Dan Bongino says it could be back this week, maybe as early as today.

Super Bowl Recap

February 9, 2021

Congratulations to Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady, who set three new records by winning his 7th Super Bowl (or as I now call it, “The Woke Bowl”) out of 10 appearances and by being the oldest player ever in the Super Bowl.

Brian Sicknick Update

February 8, 2021

The attempt to build a murder case against Capitol rioters over the death of Officer Brian Sicknick is looking less certain. It was originally speculated that he collapsed and died hours after the violence due to being hit in the head with a fire extinguisher.
As baseball great Yogi Berra said, “It’s deja vu all over again.” Didn’t we already go through a Trump impeachment trial? Gosh, time flies; that was a little over a year ago, when we should have been focusing rapt attention on more important things, such as a tiny virus making its way from Wuhan, China, to America, during the early stages of a growing pandemic.

The best advice I can give

February 4, 2021

I’m getting comments from people who feel discouraged and demoralized by how much power anti-American leftists have managed to seize, and how it’s being used to silence and bully anyone who dares stand up to them or even voice an opposing view. People want me to stop telling them so much bad news and offer more optimism.

Well, we’re trying, but you have to understand that part of what we do here is pass along the latest news we think you need to know, reportedly accurately and honestly, and frankly, a lot of it right now is pretty bad. There’s nothing that can be done about that, and there’s no sense in burying our heads like ostriches and pretending it doesn’t exist.

However, I hope you notice that I never advocate for conservatives to give up or go into hiding. To the contrary, I’ve urged you to stay calm and stay confident. I keep trying to remind you that while the big bullies of DC, social media and Wall Street think they have all the power, they only have as much as we allow them to. They need us more than we need them.

Today’s social media “giant” like Twitter can become tomorrow’s MySpace overnight (once described by Seth Meyers as the Internet’s abandoned playground) if we turn our backs on it. Google can’t track you, sell your data or try to brainwash you with slanted news coverage if you do your searching on DuckDuckGo. Some high-flying Wall Street hedge fund billionaires just got their wings clipped by a bunch of small investors on Reddit who decided they needed a spanking. Bed Bath & Beyond dropped MyPillow and their stock dropped 36% in one day. Even "Star Wars" movies can tank if they're filled with preachy leftist messages.

There’s a reason why we have the saying, “Get woke, go broke.”

Yes, it’s hard now, with the left flexing its power everywhere, from shutting down Parler to Biden’s hard-left executive orders to firing employees just for supporting Trump. But we’re only in Act One of this drama, where the villain is doing his worst. One thing you can always depend on with leftists: they have zero ability to think and plan long-term, and they always immediately overreach.

The inevitable backlash is already starting to boil. And not just among 75 million Trump voters, but also a lot of moderates and Democrats who thought they were getting “Unity Joe Biden” and not AOC in a blue suit and face mask. Remember, Republicans did really well in the last election on the state and local levels. Don’t get discouraged, get motivated and keep that momentum going.

As of this year, Republicans will have complete control (Governor and both houses of legislatures) in 24 states, while Democrats have only 15. Republicans have full control of the legislatures in 31 states; Democrats only 18. In terms of population, Republicans control legislatures that represent nearly 186 million Americans; Democrats less than 134 million.

So no, we are not “all socialists now.” Democrats in DC and a handful of big cities are shoving the pendulum so far to the left that it’s bound to swing back and knock them for a loop. Biden is now giving Americans a loud wake-up call as to why they replaced him and Obama with Trump and how foolish it was to let the media convince them to trade peace, security and prosperity for “no more mean tweets.” From polls to social media to diner conversations, you can already sense the outrage growing of “this is not we signed up for.”

The best advice I can give you is to keep reading the bad news I have to send you, but don’t get depressed, get energized to change it. Let the “woke” corporations know that you will withhold your business and they will go broke. Utilize the courts to block unconstitutional executive orders and bills, and to sue the daylights out of companies and universities that fire or silence employees for exercising their rights. Find alternatives to Internet companies that hate you, and if they destroy those alternatives, find new ones (wherever there’s a profit to be made, new alternatives will arise.)

You can also let your Republicans Representatives and Senators know that you expect them to tighten voting laws and to do everything in their power to block this Democrat bill to destroy free speech and rig elections forever; and if you’re from a purple state, let your Democrat officials know that they will soon be unemployed if they vote for it.

With the Democrats exposing what they are and blowing their support already, start working and volunteering now to be ready to take back your cities, states and the US House and Senate in 2022 (and don’t fall into the trap of forming a third party, splitting the vote and reelecting Democrats with less than 50%. That’s how we got Bill Clinton, twice.) And of course, never stop praying for America to survive, revive and thrive.

Finally, do what we try to do here every day: explain, with calmness, facts and humor, why conservative policies work and leftist policies don’t. And don’t get discouraged in thinking that nobody will listen anymore. Young people are famous for rebelling against the older generation, and the current generation of leftists in Washington is giving them a stunningly bad example to rebel against. Here’s a story that might just give you some hope for the future.

New Poll: 46% for Newsom

February 4, 2021

In the midst of a growing recall movement, California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s approval rating in a new UC Berkeley poll has plummeted from 64% to 46% in just four months. Under Newsom, the state has shut down businesses and schools, unconstitutionally targeted churches, imposed draconian COVID rules that Newsom was famously caught violating, and left millions of Californians awaiting unemployment payments while paying out $11.4 billion in fraudulent claims.

To quote Instapundit blog master Prof. Glenn Reynolds, what’s astonishing is that his poll numbers aren’t worse. For instance, who are the 43% of Californians who actually approve of how Newsom has dealt with the coronavirus? Did that many people get fraudulent unemployment checks?

Climate update

February 4, 2021

While President Biden is frantically working to destroy the entire US fuel industry and countless jobs in the name of fighting the “climate crisis,” one brave University of Colorado professor of environmental studies is trying to tell the world...

If a violent protest inside Congress is an unconscionable, treasonous attempt at insurrection and a traumatizing threat to the lives of the people in the building, what do the media call it when a group of Antifa rioters take over a hotel while armed with hatchets, knives and batons; make death threats to the police; and terrify and assault people trapped inside the building?

It’s kind of a trick question since most of them didn't call it anything, since they didn’t bother to report it at all. It happened Sunday at the Red Lion Inn in Olympia, Washington. But give ABC credit, at least they did mention it. Here’s their headline:

“Activists take over Washington hotel to demand housing for homeless during pandemic.”

Somehow, I can’t help suspecting that if they’d been rightwing activists, that headline would've been phrased quite differently, and the word “hatchets” would’ve turned up somewhere.

The “fact-checkers” who challenged every word out of President Trump’s mouth are feeling almost as unemployed as pipeline workers now that Joe Biden is in office. Some, like the Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler, have as much as admitted they won’t even be monitoring Biden because if anyone has a reputation for always telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but, it’s Joe “Plagiarist” Biden.

They’re so desperate for something to nitpick that Kessler tried nit-picking a fight with Sen. Ted Cruz, challenging his claim that Biden’s killing of the Keystone Pipeline will kill 11,000 union jobs. Kessler gave him “Two Pinocchios,” and tut-tutted that AC-shully, those jobs were only temporary jobs. Cruz fired back, “ALL construction jobs are temporary. Presidents still shouldn’t destroy them.’’

I guess at WaPo, they believe that some construction workers finish building a project, then just keep on building it for all eternity.

But as Brad Slager at Townhall.com points out at this link, Kessler contradicted himself, since in a previous “fact-check” years ago, he claimed the number of jobs Keystone would create was being overstated, and it would only create about 16,000 jobs. Now, he seems to be claiming that the jobs he said would be created aren’t real jobs at all.

How many times do I have to keep saying this? We need fact-checkers for our “fact-checkers.”

"Climate Day"

January 29, 2021

Wednesday was “Climate Day” at the White House (isn’t it “climate day” everywhere every day?), and President Biden once again attempted to reanimate the dead policies of the Obama years. He claimed Americans shouldn’t worry about all the jobs his anti-energy policies will kill because they’ll all get good new “green jobs,” doing things like building solar panels (ahem – “Solyndra”) and charging stations for all those electric government vehicles that will be powered by…well, he’ll get back to us later on that.

I expect clueless blather and job-killing policies from Biden. But if we’re going to address climate change, we have to talk about the big ball of hot gas that’s above us all. I refer, of course, to John Kerry.

Kerry has become legendary for his arrogance, pomposity, condescension and unwarranted sense of moral superiority, and all those repellent traits were on full display in his recent comments about the furious union workers who were abruptly left unemployed by Biden’s groundless halt to the Keystone Pipeline project.

Kerry, clueless as ever about how most Americans actually make a living, lectured those poor deluded peasants, “What President Biden wants to do is make sure that those folks have better choices, that they have alternatives, that they can be the people who go to work to make the solar panels” (because who wouldn’t be grateful to trade their current pipe-fitting job for a politician’s promise of a job making solar panels sometime in the vague future?)

Kerry, as always, went on: “That is going to be a particular focus of the ‘Build Back Better’ agenda, and I think that, unfortunately, workers have been fed a false narrative, no surprise, for the past few years. They’ve been fed the notion somehow that dealing with climate is going to be at their expense. No, it’s not.”

News flash, John: They just lost the jobs that they depended on to feed their families, so yes, it’s already at their expense. Of course, their small minds can’t possibly comprehend the vast, planet-controlling vision of their betters, so he has to explain to them that they haven’t really been harmed, just because they’ve been unexpectedly thrown out of work for no good reason.

Maybe he could give them some advice on making better career choices, like “Marry an heiress,” then “Divorce her and marry a richer one.”

Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton summed up the predictable outrage over Kerry’s oblivious arrogance well: “John Kerry—who flies in private jets, owned a 76-foot yacht and several mansions—has the carbon footprint of a small nation. Yet he tells energy workers to ‘make solar panels’ when the Biden administration kills their jobs.” I’m surprised Kerry didn’t suggest that they simply eat cake until those solar panel jobs become available.

Buyers' Remorse Sets In

January 29, 2021

If you read this newsletter, you’ll know I haven’t exactly been supportive of President Biden’s first days in office, and his flurry of divisive, job-killing, security-destroying, freedom-crushing, government-bloating, economy-wrecking executive orders (to put it mildly.)

The war on free speech rights just got ramped up another notch Wednesday with news that social media influencer/Twitter troll Douglass Mackey, aka Ricky Vaughn, has been arrested on federal charges for sharing memes on Twitter in 2016. I’ll wait while you go back and read that again to make sure your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you.

Mackey is charged under a seldom-used law called “conspiracy to violate rights” because he allegedly used his popular social media site to share memes that told people to vote for Hillary Clinton by sending a text to a particular number. FYI: you can’t vote by text. You might assume that anyone would know this, since the memes were widely regarded as a joke and shared by thousands of other social media users. But Mackey is facing up to 10 years in prison for sharing them. Who knows how many others might face the same selective prosecution?

I wonder if everyone who ever told the old joke about advising supporters of legalized pot to be sure and turn out to vote on the first Wednesday in November is now going to be hit with federal charges for depriving them of their rights? Or if anyone who ever shared a hilarious satirical story from the Babylon Bee will be imprisoned for spreading “disinformation”?

Two details of this story that are worth noting: you can’t blame leftists entirely, since the case was put together under the Trump Administration by acting US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Seth DeCharme, a Bill Barr appointee. Also, an MIT ranking of the most important social media influencers of the 2016 election ranked Mackey (whom I’ve never heard of before) at #107, higher than NBC News, Stephen Colbert or Newt Gingrich. In my opinion, whether Americans are actually getting their information about elections from Twitter trolls who tell them to vote by text or from Stephen Colbert, either should only lead to an indictment of our schools’ civics education.

Tucker Carlson of Fox News asked what this means for the First Amendment, and he said it means it’s been suspended if “you can be arrested for saying the ‘wrong’ things.”

As the article at the link notes, we all know that Google, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube blatantly conspired to influence the last election, to boost the Biden vote and suppress the Trump vote. I demand that the DOJ immediately arrest their CEOs on federal charges that can bring up to 10 years in prison.

And here’s another frontal assault on the First Amendment: Former Trump White House Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Peter Navarro reports that he’s been banned from Twitter simply because of who he is, what he believes and what he might say. It can’t be because of anything he’s actually said lately, since he hasn’t even tweeted anything since January 14th.

Republicans on the House Oversight Committee are calling on the FBI, if it is going to investigate Parler over the Capitol violence, to also investigate Facebook and Twitter. Seems fair, since so far, that appears to be where most of the planning, threats and anti-government activism actually took place.

In a letter to the Democrat Representative who requested the FBI probe of Parler, GOP Reps. James Comer and Greg Steube wrote, "Like you, we were disturbed and angered by the riot and we believe those responsible should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. But casting blame on a single social media company known for its conservative username while simply ignoring other social media companies known for sympathizing with liberal causes is blatantly and overtly partisan…Moreover, your letter is additional evidence of the growing alliance between Big Tech and Democrats to muzzle certain viewpoints, opinions, and perspectives."

Say, as long the FBI is investigating social media, how about investigating that, too?

Surprise, Surprise: The Washington Post announced that now that Joe Biden is in, they will no longer be “fact-checking” everything the President says. They figure Biden will be like Obama and never lie (Ahem – “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor,” “Obamacare will save you $2500 a year,” etc. etc. etc.)

Of course, we’ve all learned how the media define “lies” from a Republican: any opinion they disagree with, any joke at their expense, any deliberate exaggeration to make a point, any figure of speech they can take literally, and any statement of objective fact that they can find a way to nitpick or come up with an alternative interpretation.

But that’s okay if they don’t want to chronicle all the lies Biden tells (he’ll govern as a unifying moderate, he won’t ban fracking, nobody who makes less than $400,000 a year will pay a penny more in taxes, etc. etc. etc.) We’ll just keep doing it for them.

Since it’s both exhausting and depressing to keep up with all of President Biden’s executive orders and tabulate all the damage he’s doing to America in record time, I’m grateful to the Epoch Times for offering this round-up of just the destruction being done to national and border security and public safety under the guise of “immigration reform.” Say, Biden voters who thought you were getting a “moderate,” is THIS what you voted for?

Seton Motley at RedState.com has also compiled quite a collection of headlines and links to illustrate the massive explosion of government interference and regulations that Biden is unleashing, the hollowness of his claim to want “unity and bipartisanship,” and the damage he’s already causing. As Motley notes, Biden stole Trump’s “Buy American” slogan, but he’s making it impossible for anything to be made in America.

Fortunately, Republicans are already starting to recognize that the left has declared war on them and everything that makes America the exceptional nation they refuse to admit it is, and as I suggested, they’re turning to the courts to block Biden EO’s the same way Democrats tied up Trump’s agenda for four years.

For instance, Biden ordered an immediate halt to all deportations of criminal illegal immigrants for 100 days. And not just to halt deportations, but states were ordered to release immediately all illegal immigrants who were in custody awaiting deportation.

But Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has already filed a lawsuit that convinced a federal judge to put a nationwide stay on Biden’s order. Paxton argued that the order is unconstitutional and that Biden has no power to override Congressionally-passed immigration laws. The order also violates a legal agreement between the DHS and the state of Texas that requires Texas to be consulted prior to any actions which would “reduce, redirect, reprioritize, relax, or in any way modify immigration enforcement” agreements with the department.

The judge also agreed with Paxton that Biden’s order to release illegal immigrant criminals creates a threat of injury to Texas that outweighs any potential harm to the defendants and the public interest.

I like Paxton’s summation of the ruling: “Within 6 days of Biden’s inauguration, Texas has HALTED his illegal deportation freeze. *This* was a seditious left-wing insurrection. And my team and I stopped it.”

As they say in Texas, “It ain’t bragging if you can do it.” Now, let’s see a lot more attorneys general, legislatures and conservative legal organizations start doing it. Remember: Trump appointed a lot of judges, so be just like the left and do your judge shopping judiciously.

PS - Looks as if the RNC is getting with the program...

And note to Arizona: You might want to join that Texas lawsuit. Or file your own, and really tie ‘em up.

"Racial Equity"

January 28, 2021

President Biden’s latest executive orders abolished Trump’s 1776 Commission that was created to promote the teaching of American history from a patriotic standpoint instead of the "1619 Project" version of American history as irredeemably racist. There were also other orders aimed at battling our alleged “systemic racism.”

You should also get used to hearing the term “racial equity” instead of “racial equality.” Laura Ingraham had a good discussion of what that will mean last night.

In the old, obsolete America, people were guaranteed equality of opportunity, and the only limits on how far you could go were your own talents, skills and willingness to work hard. Biden and his staffers like Susan Rice want to replace that with “racial equity,” or equality of outcomes based on the government deciding who deserves success more, as judged by who enjoys the most “privilege.”

Under systems like this, the government enjoys the most privilege because politicians and bureaucrats get to buy votes by deciding that government contracts, grants, job opportunities and other largesse go to favored groups rather than those who can do the job best, fastest and at the least cost to taxpayers. If you’re going to lard out goodies based on who’s the most oppressed or privileged, then the real power lies with whoever decides who that is. If they decide that a poor, white male Appalachian coal miner has more “privilege” than a black, gay Harvard grad, then too bad for him.

Just like all socialist systems, it’s a formula for expanding government power and corruption by literally judging people by the color of their skin (the Democrats’ go-to position since pre-Civil War days.) Doesn’t sound very American to me, but then, these people warned us that they were going to “remake” America. Voters should have paid more attention. I don’t think most Americans are going to like what they try to remake America into.

In the meantime, to combat this fundamentally anti-American and deeply racist mindset, I recommend checking out these two links, about two very important new documentaries on race and America that go against the leftist narrative.
